Did anybody else think this was really bad taste? Ant played it on a trumpet to mock the contestants feeling sad over Larry's departure.

The Last Post is played on a very sombre occasion on Remembrance Sunday and definitely should not be associated with light entertainment and used in a jokey manner.

I am not one to be offended by much, but I thought this was plain wrong.

Didn't offend me personally, but I knew it would some people, so for that reason made me uncomfortable. Unnecessary really. They don't strike me as the type of entertainers who try to be controversial so I think it was just unthinking.

Not offensive to me but the first few bars would have been enough.

I thought it was bad taste but didn't say anything as I thought I would be jumped on. As someone who has lost a relative killed in action I felt it was insensitive.

Said to my partner at the time, absolutely disrespectful and bad taste.

You do know why the last post is sounded don't you? Hardly appropriate for a silly reality tv show.

Ant and Dec are just puppets who do what they're told to do unquestioningly. They don't really have minds of their own. Blame their scriptwriters.

It is played to remember the war dead, not for the eviction of a reality TV contestant. Highly inappropriate.

I am still shaking my head in disbelief here. All the things going on in the world and THIS is what gets people appalled and disgusted.

I'm neither appalled nor disgusted. Just thought it might have been wiser not to have bothered.

I'm not appalled for myself, just I know how sensitive an issue it is, and anybody with half a brain would have realised it could cause offence.

The last post is used to honour the war dead so you obviously don't care about that. I do, having lost someone in combat.

Jesus they were only having a laugh.
What IS the matter with people these days. They're SO bloody over sensitive and permanently looking for reasons to be offended. Get a sense of humour and grow up.

In what possible way is it having any effect on your remembrance of the person you lost?

The people who've died would probably tell you to stop being so over sensitive. They weren't disrespecting the dead for god sake.

The last post is/was also used to signal the end of the day.

A ridiculous thing to get offended over.

Why?

It never even crossed my mind until I started reading this thread and even then I was thinking what IS the OP on about.
