Recycled series titles
I find this so annoying, especially since so many of the titles that get reused belonged to my favourite shows first time round. The latest example is In Plain Sight, a new 3-part drama starting on ITV this coming Wednesday, only a few months after the same channel was showing old repeats of the US series of that name.
Others that I can think of: The Tube - once a must-see music show, more recently a BBC documentary about the London underground; Who Dares Wins - once the sketch show which helped to launch the careers of Tony Robinson, Jimmy Mulville and Rory McGrath, now some programme about the SAS (well, I do realise it was their slogan in the first place). Of course whenever I see these titles in the tv listings, I get excited for a moment before I realise. What other examples do you know of? |

Supercar.
An early predecessor to Thunderbirds et al. Then something to do with cars (non flying). ETA: It's much worse with films. |

It was the same programme, though. The second actress played a different character (with the same rank) in precisely the same setting. |

Also Daybreak and Good Morning Britain had been used by TV-AM back in the day. |

Who Dares Wins: sketch show SAS: Who Dares Wins: what it says on the tin National Lottery Who Dares Wins: gameshow If your TV guide doesn't differentiate between them get one that does. |

When I'm flicking through the EPG at the weekend I see a show listed called Caught Red Handed. I don't believe that has any connection to the BBC Daytime show hosted by Dominic Littlewood.

Also, a bit of a cheat but John Peel used to do a radio show called Top Gear. I don't think it was to do with cars...

Jericho: was first a detective series starring Robert Lindsay, then a US SF show, then a British historical drama.

Obviously, the problem gets even more worse with episode titles getting reused by various shows.

Conviction. Short lived Law and Order spin-off focusing on ADA Cabot, also the title of a series currently on Sky Living starring Hayley Atwell as head of the Conviction Integrity Unit which investigates old cases as to whether the conviction is solid.

American Gothic.
One season Supernatural show from the 1990's and a mystery show from 2016 (also cancelled after one season). |
