Mine was done this morning. All seems to be working but thought I'd post some comments.

First-off the hybrid LNB is fine with my Humax HDR Freesat DVR. The installer was a bit concerned but I don't know why.
Secondly Sky seem very keen on using wifi and even more keen that it be wifi from the router. For a while things looked bleak because I use a separate WAP and anyway I just don't think wifi is a good idea. Luckily I was able to persuade the installer to just stick an Ethernet cable into the box. It worked just fine of course but the installer seemed to visibly sigh with relief.

First impressions are that it's okay, but what happened to +/- 24 hours with the colour buttons? Is there really no choice other than holding down left/right while it scrolls?
And what monkey designed the EPG? If you're going to waste a quarter of the screen then at least waste it at the top like the original EPG does. Wasting the entire left side is silly for a guide that scrolls horizontally. It doesn't help that it keeps scrolling a bit too far so that you have half an hour showing to the left.

Ah ha! Found out how to jump back/forward by a day. FF/RW - same as my freesat box. I also like the way that Backup cancels the EPG straight out regardless of where you are.

Slightly irritating though is no HD highlight on the EPG.

Edit: Gah! My Eyes! I don't have any recordings yet so thought I'd play with the YouTube app. What F*cking moron at Sky thought that having a bright blue LED in the middle of the box would be a good idea? Do they breed morons especially for Sky?

Thankfully the otherwise useless brochure that the installer left for me is about the right thickness. I've cut a square out and sellotaped it over the damn' thing.

I'm sure I read elsewhere that you can go back to Sky +. Might be worth your while if the system isn't to your liking?

Where do you get that impression? It has a few niggles the most severe of which I have solved with some sellotape. It's still a ridiculously stupid bit of design.

I thought the blue spinning Q would put me off when I heard about it, but i must admit, I don't notice it when watching the TV.

If you go into the help section, there is a bit about the remote, that will tell you about things like going forwards 24 hours, and also that the Sky button (yes, it is a button at the top of the remote) takes you straight to recordings.

How good does the wi-fi need to be?

Mines with virgin media but in the same room as the second box will be?

Does it ever 'buffer' or it not a streaming device? Does it just work the same as the standard box?

It's not streaming but if the WiFi signal is poor you may get picture break up or freezes.

The engineer will provide boosters if needed.

The SkyQ boxes create their own WiFi network, so the distance between the main box and the mini box is what matters most and you might need a booster somewhere in-between.

How do you mean booster?

Is that something Sky would provide?

The booster is used to improve a weak WiFi signal between the SkyQ boxes, the engineer will provide it (if needed) and set it up.

Does the signal improve if it's always connected by wired rather than wireless?

Personally I don't think its that bad, as its not very bright. But an option to turn it off would be nice within the settings.

My two boxes are literally through the wall from each other and my wifi router, a high-end Asus model using Virgin broadband, is about 6 metres away, but we could not get it to work without the booster. Very odd.

after numerous "connectivity" issues with the mini boxes that we have, I called sky who tested my network remotely and decided that wifi would not work and they are now coming to hard wire the whole system (gonna take ages since we have 3 mini boxes across 3 floors inc loft room). fingers crossed this will then work without any issues!

Your router could be commercial grade and you'd still need a booster. Q doesn't use the router apart from downloading catch and on demand and issuing IP addresses. the Q system doesn't use the router as a go between, they connect to themselves and in 5 GHz so range is vastly reduced.
