Those old fashioned pitches where the audience know nothing about the product hardly ever happen in real life. The wholesalers will go to his website and order samples of products they're interested in.
One bad habit of Apprentice pitchers that always annoys me is they don't think about the audience -- what it already knows and what it needs to be told.

If I'm the head buyer for aisle six at Tesco, you don't need to tell me the size of the market or explain the difference between biscuits and cakes. It's a waste of time and it is patronising. What I do need to know is what makes your product different, what it costs and how much I can expect to make on the deal.

Really ? - Until as recently as last year I dealt with wholesalers and Head Office Buyers and always face to face because they want to see the products and discuss it.

And bear in mind that my company are a national company - not some obscure outfit

His business is pretty successful. He was on London Live in October and Paperchase stocks his emoji products. At the moment, he is promoting a doormat with fck off written on it.

I doubt he ever has to stand up and pitch much. His company will send out press releases with links to video of the product and, if they turn up in person, they'll sit around examining the products and chatting.
If Sugar shows him the door ( minus the mat ) and fires him he is likely to say just that - Sugar's idea of wit.

hes lucky hes been on the winning team.
he looks miserable even more than paul did and really looks like he doesnt want to be there at all.
not to mention him hiding in the background and putting in as little effort as possible.

poor dillon at least he showed enthusiasm.

Yes but as I have said more than once he has had every little, if any, to do with the wins. Indeed I would say also that the wins his team got were in spite of him.

'Karen, Claude, would you like a cup of tea?'
'No, and could you hurry up please.'

That hilarious exchange apart, I agree he's done nothing of note.

agreed about the confidence thing. he definitely has difficulty talking in public, as shown during his pitch in week five, his tour in week eight, and his refusal to pitch on stage in week nine. it doesn't make him a bad contestant at all, but he's certainly the weakest of the remaining.
What got me is why did Trishna think he was so good at pitching when there has been zero evidence of this?

He's definitely not the weakest. Jessica's still around.
I really wouldn't write of 'Jessica Rabbit' just yet - Lord Al looked mightily impressed when she was talked up by Karren and was smiling admiringly.

You say pretty successful but his company accounts show a negative in his profit and loss account.

His eyes almost always (in the boardroom) look red and sore...

I think he wears vivid blue contacts in the boardroom and they irritate his eyes. His eyes always look a luminous, un-natural blue in boardroom scenes but a more realistic blue when in the house or on a task.

Nah, they look extra blue because of the red rims, due to the contrast. I look like that when I'm tired or have been crying. Freaks my boyfriend out

Sugar has to respect the fact that Courtney has been on the winning team so many times, if he doesn't then he doesn't respect the format for his own show. Stretch it whatever way you like, Courtney is almost always on the most successful team, them's the facts.

But I feel like where Courtney ends up is totally up for grabs now, it could be one extreme to the other. They could be setting him up for a redemption, where he makes the final and maybe nails the pitch (Lee did the same in series 4, he was a scatterbrain and lacked organisation but pulled it together in the final) or he's going to get taken apart in the interviews. They've already homed in on some of his negative characteristics, now the shark who smells blood may be about to make the kill.

Courtney sell toot on the interweb, he doesn't need to pitch his products, just write a description and put up a photograph, and wait for an order. He does has to have a good idea of what profit he can make from his products and how quickly he can get rid of them. There are plenty of other people in his line of work, who've ended up with a warehouse (or shed) full of stuff they've spent a lot of money on and can't sell. I assume Courtney started off his business on Ebay and has got fed up with the costs of selling there.

Courtney may not have been in the boardroom yet, but neither did Paul Tulip and we all saw him get a flea in his ear at the interview stage.

I did love that exchange, Karren always comes across as an Ice Queen, but I'd be miserable too if I had to spend two days babysitting this useless lot

While Frances has been on the losing side an embarrassing number of times, I don't think she was generally responsible for those losses. And the fact that she's only been in the boardroom once (last week) would seem to bear that out.
This week she did cock up a bit with the name and label design , but it wasn't all down to her the others were woefully lacking . Other losses were also not her fault and the one time she was TL they won so maybe that's why she is being given the benefit of the doubt.

The finals are going to be interesting if he's lucky enough to be in it - how in hell is he going to stand up in front of God knows how many and sell his product if he has no confidence pitching?
I was cringing during his pitch I actually felt embarrassed for him, we all have our strengths and play to them and he shouldn't have pitched . He also cocked up by being too rigid , he should have made changes to the label, a pinky red would have made more sense for a raspberry flavoured drink than blue but he wouldn't be budged on label design colour

Agree. Who doesn't think "ah yes, pink pepper and raspberry = blue text". Even the Market Research picked up on the text colouring. Yet "I'm slightly disappointed with Alana's performance" Way to go Courtenay.

He regards his strongest attribute as being confident - in what though?

ETA: "He describes himself as fun with a positive attitude, and believes that his confidence is one of his strongest attributes.

How would I describe myself in one sentence? I'll give you one word: awesome

Courtney says he is not one to sit back, and plans to assert his authority in the process. He thinks his cut-throat tactics will help him reach the top " http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/prof.../courtney-wood

That he is able to consistently put his trousers on the right way round is a constant source of surprise for me.

He might be slightly better when pitching about his own business but who knows. If I was on that I'd learn the pitch off by heart the night before or just read from cue cards if I couldn't remember it. Many people find it very hard to pitch cold in a natural way. People who are good at public speaking off the cuff, like teachers and barristers, don't feature often in TA and there are none in this season.

Thing is they go on the show knowing that the chances of having to pitch a product at some time is bound to happen so why not rehearse, rehearse, rehearse...it's even more baffling when they put themselves forward to do it knowing they're probably / are crap at it. Then make an excuse that they didn't know the product (when they've created it!) when called out on it.

He's useless and delusional. His team won because of Alana and Jess yesterday, not him. His pitching, brainstorming and decision making are awful.
