They tend to Embargo stuff on a Christmas Day anyway, which is why you often get big news on Boxing Day

You are NOT reading posts in reply here! Your being selective.

It's in their contracts.
The newsreaders are working on shifts with the BBC News channel anyway.
They argree their shifts.
BBC News channel is live during the day, and they have to be there anyway, and the NC supplies the News.
BBC Breakfast will be on as well but only live on the hour, and will have increased recorded items jointly with the NC.
Unless Clive Myrie is Julian Worricker or Gavin Grey in blackface the newsreader is not working a shift on the BBC News Channel...

Well, I'm sure they'll do what they do every other year!
I'm giving Christmas up for Christmas this year.

Probably not the best way to put it, but anyone who watched the News Channel would know that Clive Myrie did not present on it last Xmas day.
To put it another way why would Jane Hill favourite that tweet if the time of the BBC1 news didn't affect her working day...

Naga is presenting BBC Breakfast on Christmas Day. I assume there won't be a programme on ITV as Christmas Day falls on a Sunday

To say " Probably not the best way to put it," is an understatement, I do take that however as an apology, but I found your post highly offensive.

How about those who don't want or don't celebrate Christmas?
What about them?

Is it just me or is it perhaps a sheer coincidence that there are several new members recently who all have the same anti BBC / licence fee stance?

Many of them starting wind up threads. Perhaps I'm just becoming more cynical!

I don't post as much as I used to, but I was wondering that as well after reading through the different threads.

Many people work the main holidays, and many do not mind especially if they live on their own. I worked either Christmas Day or New Year's Day (sometimes both) almost every year of my working life and just took it that it was part of the work.

I am sure that if a major story breaks (or continues) over Christmas then it will be properly covered as has happened in the past - Lockerbie was only a couple ofdays before Christmas

Fully agree with both posts.

Really trying to start something from absolutely nothing, they do not even think their complaint through, i.e. There is a News channel.

It's so sad I feel actually sorry fir them, letting something so trivial become what appear to them to be bigger than it is!

Lockerbie happened on December 21 2003 and was covered throughout Christmas

BBC1 interrupted programmes on Christmas Day 1977 to report the death of Charlie Chaplin

Technically, ITV Breakfast is on with kids programmes like every weekend.

The BBC didn't always do Breakfast News on Christmas day either, until 2000 they had CBBC on One and old films on Two.

But...for the last....sixteen years.....they have!

I am glad GMB feels there is No News every weekend so Suzanna and Piers can have weekends off.

The BBC have apparently decided that a time before 3 in the afternoon can be classed as evening...
No they really haven't

NEWS: BBC News
On: BBC 1 North (101)
Date: Sunday 25th December 2016 (starting in 21 days)
Time: 14:50 to 15:00 (10 minutes long)

The latest national and international news stories from the BBC News team.
(Stereo, Widescreen, Followed by Weather, Subtitles, 3 Star)

Yes their is evening news on Xmas eve every year... it may only be 10 minutes in length but it definitely exists. Last year the Xmas eve evening news was at 18:20 with Fiona Bruce (and if you meant Xmas day 16:35 with Clive Myrie (neither of who presented on the news channel on the respective days)), and in 2014 xmas eve was 18:05 with Sophie Raworth, and Xmas day 16:40 with Reeta Chakrabarti.
There isn't one this year. 1450 then 2330, according to DigiGuide.

GMTV did 10 minutes of news from 0600-0610 on Saturday before the cartoons started. There was also a political programme on Sundays from 0610-0700. By the mid 00s the weekend output was all kids programmes.

It's clearly a wind up merchant or troll, especially with the black face comment. Another idiot reported and hopefully banned.
