I thought I'd start a positive thread as there has been too much negativity, rightly or wrongly, of late. I want to state what I think the good parts are of Strictly this year:-

ED BALLS- He was very entertaining and always brightened the mood.

QUALITY OF DANCING- has been high this year.

CLAUDIA AND GREG- did much better than I thought they would.

There are much more but what do you think are the positives about this year?

Claudia has thrilled me with her dancing as much as she does with her gymnastics.
I have also enjoyed Ed and Rob.

It's been, by far, the best year for stand-out dances (and possibly even dancers) since 2013.

I'd agree with that.

What a great thread!!!

1. Ed Balls - couldn't stand the man as a politician but as I watched his gangam again for the 15th time explained to my hubster that my enjoyment of him has come from his sheer commitment to every dance, and to learning, from his fabulous Pro Katya, and his ability to throw himself into everything, acting, DAs, descending piano's......you name it he has been one of the best ever in my eyes!!!

2. Katya. For bringing a love of dancing to Ed that gave us all of the above.....but moreso for her great character and artistry, I really look forward to seeing her in SCD for many more years.

3. The sets - and particularly the floor lighting - there has been some absolutely incredible floors.

4. Make up, hair, costumes............they all go to making the entire experience and I love them all. In my head I have about 100 SCD dresses in my wardrobe because some of them have been purely beautiful.

Gorka giving Anastacia her best week was lovely. And the personality that is The Judge was a revelation, I didn't think I would like him at all.

All six new Pro dancers are good additions to the show.

There have been some wonderful Pro and Group routines including the beautiful Week 1 'What the World Needs Now' number and the Blackpool Group dance to 'One Singular Sensation'.

I enjoy Strictly every year... well, since I started watching during John Sargeant's year. Simple as that, really. It's never going to be dreadful, there will always be some slebs who are forgettable and others who are standout... there will be Journeys.

The professional dancers are a pleasure to watch - and I'm really looking forward to seeing the pro dances tonight.

I'm happy enough with the judges, like Tess, adore Claude... I express surprise over under / over marking, express bewilderment at some of the simply wrong music... but never get my nix in a twist over anyone.

Just as the nights start to get dark we get the bright lights, glitter, and general good humour of SCD.

Works for me.

ps: and I like Anton...

Anton was brilliant in the opening Musicals number, adding that routine to my favourites from this series.

Well done.

Fantastic series.
Wonderful dancing. Celebrities professionals and the group dances.
Brilliant staging.
Wonderful sings and singing.
truly enjoyable quality entertainment.

Not like the few who post the occasional negative threads for a moan or attention.

I like all the new pros - in fact I like pretty much all the pros, old and new.

There has been some brilliant choreography, particularly from Oti, Katya and Joanne.

Ed made me smile more than I thought possible. When he was first announced I hoped he'd be first one out; who'd have thought I'd be sad to see him go and would even have voted for him a couple of times?

The pro group dances have been better than they've been for years.

While there have been several song choices that haven't suited the dance, generally the singers have done an excellent job with them all.

I quit watching Strictly a few years ago because it had lost something for me. This series has been a total joy to watch though and has reminded me why I fell in love with Strictly in the first place.

There's been some absolutely inspired choreography this year and lots of the new pros seem to have bags of potential. I hope they stick around next series.

On the celeb front, they all seem to really get along and support each other which has made for a lovely atmosphere on the show. And personally, watching Danny dance and build a partnership with Oti has been brilliant.

The show may have its problems but the sparkle and fun it brings to this time of year is just wonderful.

Lovely thread OP! Plenty to be positive about this series I think.

Ed Balls (and Katya!) - what a revelation! It was fantastic how he was able to commit so much to each dance/character/theme

Rob Rinder, Daisy, Greg and Ed - how much they obviously enjoyed learning to dance came through every time

Greg - did so much better than I thought (secretly that was probably one of my favourite rumbas even though I realise content wise it maybe wasn't one!)

I don't have a favourite out of who is left so I am just enjoying being entertained by the music, singing, dancing, costume, staging etc each week - what a lovely way to spend my Saturday night with my family

What a great thread!

Love the new pros, particularly Katya. Ed was a revelation for me and Katya skills as a dancer and choreographer were stellar.

I was so excited they finally got a female gymnast and Claudia hasn't disappointed. She's really excelled in ballroom particularly and I love her partnership with AJ.

There's been a very high standard of dancing this year and I think we're in for a treat come the final.

Bravo OP! ..... Take a bow

Agree with many here, loving the new pros (love most of the old ones too).
Enjoyed seeing a different side to Oti, and seeing what she's capable of.

Hoping a thread like this will encourage any lurkers 'out there' to join in.

I think the standard has been very good this year. Surprisingly few dances I've felt were genuinely unwatchable - contrasting with previous years.
