They'll all do the job. There's one at £29.99 "fully loaded" including Kodi.

The blurb in the webpage linked to implies it can take a "USB storage device" but fails to say if that is restricted to just a flash drive or if it can take a full USB hard drive. Nor if it can power a USB drive directly or can only work with externally powered drives. And I haven't the time or will to read through all 90 pages of customer reviews on the off chance someone mentions using a hard drive with it

The device Chris linked too in post 5 will do the job, I use one when we go away so we can watch our own movies. You can use USB sticks or external hard drives, I use a WD passport which is USB powered. It plays most files, avi, mkv, mp4, it also supports H264 (HD 1080p).
Just plug it in via HDMI, plug in your external drive and switch on, then just select the movie tab, then the movie of your choice, its that simple. |

Seems that there isn't a manual available online for that model. Currys Partsmaster division has a shed load of Logik TV manuals but nothing remotely resembling that particular model.

Why didn't you take the drive with and test it with the files you want to play?
![]() I have got rid of the old TV and the set top box there is a site I use called streetwise.com and if you have something you do not need you either sell it or give it away and I advertised it as free to collector and it was gone in two hours which saved me the hassle of disposing off it.Hopefully problem now solved so thank's for all the suggestions. |

That would have been a good idea but the thought never entered my head. But will now take the drive with me when I collect it and maybe try it before taking it home as need to be certain even though they have said there would be no problems with playing the drives contents.
If they let you then definitely test it with your drive. Especially if it is a USB powered drive as the TV may not be able to supply enough power to the drive and only works with drives powered externally. |

I do have a 500gb mains powerd drive which has hardly anything on it so could use that by just tranfering the contents of both drives over. That would solve the power problem.

I have just got a Logik 20"TV Model number L20HE15 and when I plugged my external drive in to play some films it said Video Not Support although on one of them there was sound but no visual.I have seen in the manual about using MPEG1/2 but how can I tell what format the videos on the drive are some are MP4 but not all.How can I if it is possible convert them to MPEG1/2.when I plug the drive into my main 32" TV it plays fine.

What you are asking for does not exist. It is the equivalent of looking for a tape adapter that lets you play Blu-Ray disks on a VCR. The technology of USB and SCART are so totally different and so completely incompatible with each other that no bit of wire will ever allow one to connect to the other.
You need some device that can interface between the drive and the TV. If the TV has HDMI then a device such as this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sumvision-C...dp/B0052X04MO/ might do the trick. |

So this would allow me to play MPEG video 's without having to convert them which I really do not want to do.

Having followed this thread, looked at others by the o/p together with some of the very negative comments on the Amazon site regarding the Sumvision unit, I think he is going to struggle with devices such as this. If his laptop has an HMDI output and he can play the files on it then a new TV with an HDMI input would be a very much simpler solution.
Chris, as always, has been very polite and patient but I think even he must feel that he has gone as far as he can regarding this thread. |
