Oh dear. Not Will "Mystery Malady" Young again?
I wouldn't want to see him perform after all this time anyway. Either he can play a full part in the show, as per his contract, or he can't. I just hope the BBC manages to find more reliable participants next year, although to be fair the rest of this year's line up have been particularly good.

Your name is very apt because I read your post and immediately wanted to say bless you, for your reasonableness and compassion. It can be in short supply around here.

What illness? Will hasn't said he's unwell. He said he's "dandy". What are you implying?

Tantrum/strop, both the same thing in my book. Len Goodwin slapped him down and put the petulant little twerp in his place.

Good for him . Part of therapy and dealing with ongoing issues is learning to recognise when you are heading into trouble and putting the brakes on if possible .
Will was feeling under too much pressure and luckily in this instance he was able to remove himself from the stressful situation .Very sensible if difficult decision. I don't doubt he's a bit of a diva , but I don't think that he realised the work and stress involved in Strictly . Some people (even after all the warnings over the years) still think it will be a jolly jape to fill in the winter months up to Christmas .It's bloody hard work and little thanks from the judges most of the time . Will doesn't take criticism well . That's just how some people are .
As for refusing the final group dance ? Good for him . Had he taken part he'd be vilified , ripped to bits for "trying to grab the limelight when he had already chickened out" blah blah blah . He can't win really on this one . I wish him well .

He's "dandy" because he away from the pressure of Strictly . He made the right choice leaving . His mental health is more important than twirling round on telly every week .

All the contestants feel anxious before the show - it's extremely commonplace and predictable - especially for the ones who aren't used to performing in front of thousands of people. Will MIGHT have been suffering from some kind of mental problem but an unattributed quote from a mate to a newspaper is not a diagnosis. Will publicly told another mate he was "dandy". Why should one be true and not the other?

You have no clue why he left. He has refused to say. You choose to diagnose him as mentally ill but it's just a newspaper story like all the others. Will has made no such statement, therefore any conclusions are speculative.

penelopesimpson is a great fan of mysery poker.

Name any condition and they've had it worse, or knows someone who had, and yet struggled on with their everyday lives. Unlike luvies who just can't hack it.

No shit Sherlock . Who knew .
As with all issues , mental and physical , there are different levels of seriousness . Anxiety can even be described as positive by some people because it triggers their adrenalin and helps them perform at their peak . Will is not of that mind set and did what he needed to do to protect his health .

Nope , wrong again . I never diagnosed him as "mentally ill" . Nice try to put words in my mouth , but no prize for you .

Are you his doctor? What evidence, other than an anonymous quote from a "friend" to a newspaper, do you have of this alleged mental illness?
Will has chosen not to share this information/disinformation with the public. This may be because he prefers to keep it private and it may be because that is not the reason he left the show. The fact that you like the colour of this particular form of speculation better than that of others who claim that he had a bust-up with Len does not automatically make your allegations correct.

You're the one claiming he had to leave his job in a hurry because of his mental health.

This is the evidence that Will did not fall out with Karen. She has called the Mail journalists who wrote this article liars:

Karen CliftonVerified account‏@karen_hauer
@juliapritchard and #CiaraFarmer you two should be ashamed of yourselves and the nonsense you write.. #liars #shameonyou

There are also photos around of Will and Karen rehearsing in Cornwall so he didn't stand her up there. Don't believe the gutter press or assume that Will would find singing in a small gig, which he must have done hundreds of times before as stressful as the Strictly experience.

Personally I've never believed that story. They seemed to get on very well. On the other hand, Will's silence has left a vacuum that has resulted in a lot of speculation about his relationships (inside and outside Strictly) and his health (mental or otherwise), and so on.

That's not evidence, so your book is wrong.

All sorts of crap has been written and you've fallen hook line and sinker. There was nothing petulant about what he said to Len either, it was perfectly polite.

And even if it was HE is not responsible for the chereography of a routine it's NOT his job to be or to be judged for it. The fault there lies either with Karen or the producers but it's not is - he did what he was asked to do and I actually think Len was bang out of order to have a go at Will for something that wasn't his fault. Len let his grumpiness at 'the rules' being infringed or his dislike of either Karen or the theming get in the way of any notion of fairness to a celeb at least Craig didn't have a go at Greg during rhumbagate.

It could be the unfairness of that situation that was a factor in Will going actually. Karen is probably blameless Len might not be.

or maybe he doesn't wanna cross paths with len after what happened last time they spoke, things between them would've been arkward if he did the final dance so probably a wise move on his part

I still dont understand why he quit...

It's really ruined his reputation. I am a huge fan and even i was annoyed at him for quitting. Fair enough if he had a good reason but he hasn't given one which i am sure he could do if he wanted. He said he was 'dandy' so it seems that perhaps there isn't one. He seems to be continuing to do live shows so it would seem that everyone predicting it because of mental health is not true.

I know Will quite well i'd like to think having followed him for fourteen years, i would say in my opinion that perhaps the reason he quit was because he realized he wasn't going to win. He would have probably made the semi-final next week i think but probably not beat Ore, Danny or Louise. He would have had a great experience, showed a different side, helped his career etc. I think for me, unless he has a good reason i hope he didn't quite for a silly reason e.g a tantrum or realizing he wouldn't win..

I say this by the way owning every album, single, book, DVD etc he has ever released...so this is no hater opinion but it's what i am guessing until he tells us otherwise.

According to press reports, Will's fee of £25,000 would have risen to £40,000 if he had lasted another 3 weeks in the show until end October. Therefore, if he had quit due to genuine health issues, I doubt the BBC would have docked £20,000 of his £25,000 fee when he's already completed at least 3 weeks work.

He probably doesn't want to meet Len again. Can't say I blame him.

Len says they made it up afterwards:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016...oung-strictly/

As I posted earlier, Karen has also denied she fell out with Will. The only other reason I can think of is that Will left to protect his health because the pressure of Strictly was getting to him. He may not feel up to discussing his health at this time. This does not mean he is incapable of singing small gigs where he is in his comfort zone. I suspect he is much more confident in his singing than anything else.

He is wise not going back to Strictly for the final, it may bring back bad memories and will only open him up to more press intrusion and criticism.
