Semi-Final Dances

Claudia & AJ - Quickstep or Tango / Rumba
Danny & Oti - American Smooth or Waltz / Salsa
Judge Rinder & Oksana - Argentine Tango, Tango, Waltz (see below)
Louise & Kevin - Tango / Salsa or Samba
Ore & Joanne - Argentine Tango or Quickstep / Samba

I think Rinder having no latins left is simply because when they decided the dance order they didn't imagine he'd still be in at this stage. In the unlikely event that he makes the semi (I don't know the result for this week yet), I guess he'll do AT and Waltz.

I think Kevin will pick samba over salsa

also think as AT does not belong to either we may find ore will do qs and at

AT is generally considered ballroom for the purposes of Strictly. I think it's really unlikely he'll have QS and AT.

yes but if danny/louise/ore make the semis then we would have 3 dances basically similar as samba or salsa on strictly virtually the same

Well, the series 12 semi-final had a salsa, a samba and a cha-cha, the series 11 semi had two salsas and a samba and three couples did the American Smooth in the series 10 semi. So a bunch of the same or samey dances isn't unprecedented.

Salsa is a good dance for the semi's. I remember Caroline's ... that livened up proceedings
I cannot see the Judge doing an AT ... I'm guessing Ore will have it.
Rumba can go either way. Didn't Kara do her rumba in the semi finals?
Really hoping Danny ... if he gets through .. will dance an American Smooth.

Yes, and then again in the final as her favourite dance.

Judge Rinder will have to do AT next week if he stays in, I don't see him being allowed to do two traditional ballrooms.

My guesses:

Claudia & AJ - Tango and Rumba
Danny & Oti - American Smooth and Salsa
Judge Rinder & Oksana - Waltz and Argentine Tango
Louise & Kevin - Tango and Salsa
Ore & Joanne - Quickstep and Samba

Errr, stupid question I'm sure - but how come the couples are not skipping a dance this year?

if Kevin is back think he would always choose samba over salsa

They are. There are three undone dances (not counting the showdance), and they'll all do two of them next week. The final is judges' choice, couples' choice and showdance.

Claudia & AJ: Quickstep and Rumba
Damny & Oti: American Smooth and Salsa
Judge Rinder & Oksana: Argentine Tango and Waltz
Louise & Kevin: Tango and Samba
Ore & Joanne: Quickstep and Samba

Though, as suggested on another thread, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ore & Joanne dance the Argentine Tango instead of the Samba.

Aaaah, thanks! Only final I remember properly is series 8, and they did 4 dances back then.

Claudia and AJ could skip the Rumba, and have just the QS or Tango. Would mean no Latin for them in the semis, but Jay did VW and Charleston in the semis last year so it can be done. Aliona wisely ditched the Samba.

No, they couldn't, because that would be two ballroom and Charleston ostensibly counts as Latin on Strictly. If Claudia had AT left it might be different, but she has ballroom Tango left.

I might revise my guesses above and say Danny & Oti will do Waltz if they get through - not sure they'd want to do two dances with lifts in the same week.

Rumba was always going to be a difficult dance for Claudia. I feel like she may have had more of a chance if she'd done it this week, following on from her more 'grown-up' AT.
After the Salsa, she's been put back into cutesy/kiddies corner, I'm not sure how they are going to make a rumba work.
I would say Louise is more likely to do Samba than Salsa.

I thought it classed as a ballroom - an American ballroom it used to be anyway. If it's not classed as either then she could still get away with ditching the Rumba.

I would like to see the following...

Claudia & AJ: Quickstep and Rumba
Damny & Oti: American Smooth and Salsa
Judge Rinder & Oksana: Argentine Tango and Waltz
Louise & Kevin: Tango and Samba
Ore & Joanne: Argentine Tango and Samba

The Charleston is definitely considered Latin on Strictly. And it doesn't really matter since Claudia did it weeks ago - she HAS to do the Rumba in the semis.
What name??

I think she may get away with it. She seems to have a lot of dedicated fans who don't really care if she produces content and she is good at posing.

I reckon this is going to turn out to be right. Louise could possibly have the Salsa, though.

FUN FACT: Every Salsa Kevin has ever done has either been bottom of the leaderboard or in the dance-off.

Very interesting, whuld explain why he's skipping it. Although personally I think Kevin should never be allowed to do a Samba again after Boom! Shake the Room last year

From the results show - Danny and Oti have a dance "with lifts". American Smooth, and/or Salsa?
