X Factor bosses desperate for Matt to win
http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/x...e-matt-9388426
Apparently X Factor bosses want Matt or 5 after midnight to win as they are more marketable than Saara and Emily. What does everybody think of this. In my opinion Saara is the most marketable now, Emily is just boring and Matt has become Matt 2.0. As I've posted this before the results, lets see if the bottom 2 is Saara and Emily. |

I absolutely love the phrase 'He's been thrown under a fleet of buses!', but yeah, Simon has been criticising Matt for weeks and giving praise where it simply isn't warranted for others, so I'm not sure how he (as the show's big boss) can be hoping for a Matt win. I don't think negative psychology works.
At the risk of bringing Virtuoso out-of his burrow, the only thing that would seem to make sense (given that Saara likely won't have a career post X Factor UK as demonstrated by the fact that she's a veteran of these shows and is famous in Europe but still isn't a star), is that Simon wants Matt to come *second* in-order to take the pressure off him and give Simon's company time to nurture him. |

Hasn't Simon criticised 5am as well? Personally, I think Matt will be in the final

Now that streaming changed the way charts work even having the winners single go to #1 like Sam Bailey's isn't likely. That article you linked is really just pointing out the obvious. |

Erm drake is 29, Rihanna is 28 Beyoncé is in her 30s - they may be established but so is Madonna yet she can't even get radio play anymore! Way I see it if you have a hit that is relevant and are you're marketed well - and towards a young generation you will get played on radio - sean Paul etc! Craig David is 35 and so relevant again after he's made a come back - his career was nearly destroyed by the bo selecta stuff! Fleur acts young and acts like a pop star and she has a lot of young fans she also raps and does pop music. saara is completely different as an artist she is total west end she doesn't have it in terms of being a popstar - Fleur can be marketed to a younger audience because of the way she is and the way she performs how hasn't she had a hit single? sax is certified platinum or gold in 11 countries she's a new artist and not every artist will get a number 1 all the time! It's not how it works! Ben Haenow was never gonna be a popstar his voice is to rock and he did get played on radio!
Matt terry or 5AM are syco safest bet and that's the truth |

I don't get it. Surely they don't want Saara to win but why is she being overpraised suddenly? They know she won't be marketable..
I doubt the Scottish vote will be enough for Emily to win. She's either gone tomorrow or will finish third. I always thought Matt was the favourite but then he has also been given awful song choices, had the worst slots and has been given horrible treatment tonight. Which leaves 5am. |

No you really don't...... Not these days if you keep making hits then it really don't matter I would say up to mid 30s you have a shot so long as you start mid 20's plenty of young artists have started and failed or didn't do well - age doesn't always matter - sometimes if yOu get a break late 20s you've got the experience to do better because you've been around the block in the industry it's not the 90s anymore lots of older musicians are getting the support

If radio and industry is truly Ageist it should apply to everyone established or not that no one over 30 gets played on radio - it just wouldn't stand up in the real world some of the best artists in the world are over 30! Everyone gets older doesn't mean young ones don't like the music wow teens listen to Rihanna drake Beyoncé etc MJ is still relevant to teens and even tho he's not alive he was still relevant as he got older he still on radio regardless and then there's Justin timberlake! I just think it's a load of bs if you make good music that becomes popular then it shouldn't matter what age you are what matters is sales! James Arthur is 28 Aswell he's just made a big comeback

If anything it seemed like they were pushing Saara the most tonight?
Only act to get a double standing O (in fact a standing O in general I think, the rest just got their mentors) and the only negative they really had was her dress in Chandelier and it being a slight cheese fest for her Xmas one |

Saara is not marketable for SYCO. She is 29. Too old to become a popstar and get radioplay from BBC Radio 1 and Capital FM.

Saara acts like a much older woman I dunno if it's how she is styled but she ain't cool and I think it's her voice she can sing but the type of voice she has belongs on the stage and that's where she would really excel she ain't gonna be releasing no pop music she just isn't that type of artist I just dunno how they could market her to appeal to the young ones that stream music these days

Saara just sang a song by Sia -- her breakthrough hit came at the age of 38 after plugging away in the music industry with limited success until her mid 30s.
I just don't think Saara could be a popstar doing pop music |

I honestly think it doesn't matter in this day and age industry wise there are so many artists older in charts at the moment because they are better they have more experience and they have a great attitude

Rihanna signed her first recording contract when she was 16 or 17. She is 28 or 29 now and I think she can stay relevant at least until her mid thirties as long as she releases music that caters to pop radio. Beyonce pretty much abandoned the pop radio and is catering more or less to urban. She is lucky to be such a big star that she can sell out stadiums. Saara is 29 and a contestant on X Factor. |

Also, Sia is hiding her face when she performs on TV. A young girl is dancing in her music videos, wearing that same wig that Sia is wearing. She is being marketed as a faceless artist and she is using a kid in her music videos. Saara won't be able to do that. |

Saara isn't a popstar but there are artists that are In their 20s that can be marketed in such a way but Saara can't because she just isn't that type of artist and voice is a lot to do with it to she's very old fashioned whereas Sia isn't

You can market mid to later 20s pop stars if they have the right tools ie type of voice, style and looks but Saara isn't marketable she's a different type of singer and charts do not care for diva ballad singers anymore it's sad but true, it's all about the rap and tropical house and pop music - I mean I can't imagine Saara bringing out something like one dance or shout out to my ex her voice just wouldn't fit that type of record

Of course the real problem is that none of the finalists are very beautiful, like Beyonce, Rhianna or Drake. Sia is attractive but not very beautiful, but she is an extremely talented musician and song writer and also makes a point of covering her face, so it doesn't matter anyway.
That's not to say they aren't attractive, of course they are, but the odds are against them ever becoming a massive success unless they are very beautiful or very musically gifted. |
