The downside to any male singer on X Factor is that their target audience is the most fickle of them all.
Matt isn't the type of singer who is going to appeal to the lads and if girls get bored quickly, then it's curtains for him. It's also very telling in the public vote that in Disco Week, Saara (presumably) topped the vote for the first time and has remained in the top 2 ever since. I don't know this for sure, but she's avoided the bottom 2 ever since. Saara is in the strongest position right now as she has won over the public. Matt is the one I expected to be topping the public vote every week so the fact he's lost his pulling power with the public vote speaks volumes. |

I have loved him from day 1. He has a great voice and looked like a star from the start. He's my winner however it turns out xx

Matt comes across to me as quite bland on the show. He's a decent singer, but it feels like the producers don't know how to market him or see where he would fit in on the commercial music scene.
At first it seemed like they wanted him to be an Olly Murs replacement, but the past few shows he has been singing too many ballads for that image. Since Matt is a native Spanish speaker, I think if Simon were to give him a record deal, he should give him a shot at promoting in Latin America with some songs in Spanish. Quite a few pop artists have been trying that lately, I know Fifth Harmony has a few Spanish speakers and it's made them more global. It would definitely make Matt more interesting than he is now in my view. |

I think until recently Matt has been in musical theatre and pantos as part of a large group, or part of a band, he is quite new to solo performing. I detect he may also be not that confident and be unsure of his ....identity. I am hoping for a Saara v Matt final because we will get some strong singing. Maybe not great singing but it will be worth watching. |

He is not laddish or cocky (!) like olly murs and therefore can't be marketed in that way. But neither is he theatrical like Adam lambert or Robbie Williams. Nor is he a gritty songwriter like James Arthur. So...what to do ? The producers and mentors can't fix this in ten weeks. I hope it doesn't damage his career. |

He is crap. If he didn't look like Louis from one direction he wouldn't have even made the live shows

He seems pleasant and inoffensive, but boring. His performances are competent but lack "wow" moments.
I think the fact he has struggled to keep a stranglehold on the voting doesn't bode well for him either as it suggests viewer ambivalence towards him. |

One thing that amuses me about him though is the constant praise for his falsetto.
I mean singing in falsetto is one of the easiest things to do in singing, and if anything it indicates a lack of natural vocal range and control if you have to resort to it so often. |
