EE Irritating portrayal of a 'ladies night'
It's so annoying that 'ladies nights' are stereotyped as being a bunch of women complaining about how men don't put the loo seat down and/or don't replace the loo roll, and jokes about men's willy sizes. Women, when they get together don't actually behave like this in my experience and the idea that the only subject matter that interests them is either complaining about or mocking men is patronising and offensive.

Someone's isn't very big, lol, but I can't remember who's. I vaguely remember Honey being involved, so perhaps it's Billy's.

Billy's willy was mentioned in a hushed convo. But in all fairness all women around that table had sahared in some way.
It wasn't that exciting. |

It was awful and it must be the 100th tie EE has delivered this same tired scene.

Once I actually had the misfortune to see part of a episode of 'Loose Women' and that is what the EE ladies night reminded me of.

I honestly feel that you have to try to hard to be offended by this ladies night portrayal. I don't know how old you are but I do agree that a bunch of young ladies might not talk about these kind of things, however the women involved in this scene were all mature, with big families, have all been married for years (or experienced long term relationships) so it's quite natural that they would talk about their men and complain about there bad habits.
What would you want to see them talk about? |

I know groups of people who would have a night like that, but also groups of people that would never spend an evening socialising in such a way.
For the characters involved in was pretty believable. They'd all had a drink and barriers were definitely down. |

I liked the part where it looked like there might be tension between Shirley and Carmel, when Carmel told her off, but it actually led to Shirley softening - it's little subtle things like that which I take, and enjoy, from seemingly-useless scenes. Very few scenes are actually genuinely useless.
Agree though about the constant man-bashing, which is everywhere these days, and you know there'd be absolute outrage should a group of blokes sat around a table start screaming about the size of a woman's breasts. Shouldn't be ok for either gender. |

In all my days I have never ever been on a night out with my female friends - and definitely not with my female neighbours - where we talked about toilet seats (far too boring to talk about) or the size of our partners' genitals (far too personal to talk about). Funnily enough, we seem to find all sorts of things to talk about - pretty much like most men, I would imagine.

It was dreadful, although Linda Henry's impeccable comic timing just about saved it.

I quite enjoyed it, despite Kathy's atrocious ruining it somewhat.
Could have also done without the cliched "why do men always leave the loo seat up?" kind of talk but thought Shirley's contributions were gold. |

I get where you are coming from OP. I thought it was beyond awful and tedious. One of the worst episodes of any soap ever purely down to the drunken low life slobs going on and ON with lame jokes about men missing the toilet. Entertainment? Really?
Shirley and Carmel - now that was funny but mainly down to Linda Henry's good timing. The rest couldn't be less funny if it tried. If I want to see drunken slobbing slappers I only need to go out my front door on weekend nights. It wasn't offensive but I personally found it diabolical. I am keeping an open mind about this new producer. However he has to the aftermath of Ronnie and Roxy's exit and Glenda's possible return for a few episodes and then I am done. |
