I have to agree, or what about Bohemian Rhapsody, as it is the 25th (where did the time go?) anniversary of it being Xmas numner one the second time

If everyone on the DS forums bought both of those songs from iTunes next week, and encouraged a friend to do the same you could actually inflence the outcome of the Xmas chart.

Having either of those songs in the chart again this Xmas is a suitable epitaph for their composers as well

Imagine history repeating itself.

Queen and Greg Lake occupied the Christmas top 2 in 1975. Would be a truly weird but unique event should 2016 have the exact same Christmas top 2 as 1975

Plus it would be even more incredible for Bohemian Rhapsody to be the Christmas #1 in not only three different years, but three different decades.

It would be even funnier if Greg Lake became the No1 and Queen were at No2. However there is zero prospect of either getting anywhere in the chart much as far as I can tell, but I'm not paying too much attention as it's of no real meaning anymore and all the interest is purely mainstream media hype.

Back in 1975 there was no meaningful bigging up of who would gain the Christmas top spot. It was just another chart that happened to fall on Christmas, which was admittedly a big sales week. But it matters not a jot in the end and is a fake race. Take last years No1 by some NHS Choir. Straight in at No1 and then plunges to the depths of No29! That's not a genuine meaningful No1 even if it technically can claim to be.

Just look at some of the rubbish that has been at the No1 position at Christmas in the past 25 years. Who'd want a festive No1 based on that sorry collection. Mad World in 2003 was the last truly great festive No1 hit, with a great festive runner up too.
