As these two channels generally have the shows that gain the most viewers, which channel would you prefer to watch on Christmas Day, looking at the schedules below?

BBC1

I can't imagine me watching much of the main two channels this year. I'll watch Bake Off and Mrs Brown's Boys if it's a new episode but other than that there's nothing that I haven't watched before or that I'm remotely interested in.

Looks like a Netflix/DVD night.

A PVR full of recordings isn't just for all year round, it's for Christmas too

I'm watching The Great Christmas Bake Off, Call the Midwife, and Mrs Brown Boys on BBC1. So I chose BBC.

Other than possibly recording For the Love of Dogs on ITV, they couldn't even pay to watch the rest of their rubbish schedule. I love Harry Potter, but I definitely wouldn't sit through one of the films on ITV with all their annoying ads.

Always the Beeb OP. I have long given up on ITV.

ITV seem to be getting a bit carried away with news bulletins though I suspect that, unless something major happens, they will be mainly pre-recorded reports.

Both pretty naff but the Sky planner will hopefully be full enough.

Who's watching 90 minutes of Call the Midwife? And how's a one off GBBO going to work?

ITV wise, I thought YBF was left behind in the 90s and Love Actually and The Lion King are repeated ad nauseam.

Always BBC all day on Christmas Day, recording Emmerdale and probably Maigret from ITV but that'll be all

The Lion King premiered early this year on Ch4. That once. ONCE! Its been on TV once. This is its second airing. Hardly 'ad nauseam.'

YBF I agree. Crap filler.

Btw The ITV schedule is wrong. The Lion King is at 3.10pm, so you can remove one of those ITV News. So only TWO News bulletins

Well I'd agree that it could be better, (YBF I'm looking at you), but BBC is hardly much better. Its the same every year for most programmes.

ITV's Christmas Eve is better than Christmas Day.

Neither....Christmas Day tv especially in the evening onwards hasn't had any show that appeals to me for several years now.

I suspect that Paul O' Grady for the love of dogs will be a repeat.
May well watch the last few episodes of series 5 of Ripper Street.

Of the Christmas Day programmes Mum watches You've Been Framed, Emmerdale, For The Love Of Dogs, Corrie, Midwife, EastEnders and Mrs Brown. She'll probably watch the ITV stuff and record the BBC1 stuff. Mum likes to go to bed at 10pm hence why we would record EastEnders and Mrs Brown but she might be persuaded to stay up late to watch EastEnders as we'll be able to lie in on Boxing Day.

The only programme from the BBC1 and ITV Christmas Day schedules that I watch is Dr Who and I'm not particularly fussed about that this year. Suspect it'll be as forgettable as last year's Christmas episode. The sooner the Doctor hooks up with his new companion the better.

There's quite a lot I'll be watching over the festive fortnight but not much of it is on Christmas Day.

ITV is all new from 5.15 to 11.00. Even You've Been Framed is new and we haven't had a new episode all autumn, Harry Hill being otherwise occupied by two new TV projects.

I don't watch much television at all but it would be the BBC every time. Cannot stand watching anything with adverts in.

BBC: Doctor Who and WILTY if I'm still conscious! (Blinking late, isn't it. Might be an iplayer job.)
ITV: Nowt.

Then again, never really watched much TV on the day itself.

The post-watershed comedy on BBC seems weak. An hour and a half of call the midwife seems excessive to me. I think an hour for a Christmas special is quite sufficient.

Whatever I watch at Christmas, I will have already, or will record and watch at a time to suit me. Far better to schedule you own viewing, I rarely watch anything live, I record everything I want to watch.

This is precisely why I have been saving shows to watch over Christmas

Both channels have truly awful lineups as per usual
