You couldn't even pay me to sit through soaps at Christmas. I don't need melodrama with my food and presents.

I looked in the TV magazine and ITV doesn't have a decent schedule the entire xmas week. They put no effort into things. BBC 1 at least put a bit of effort into it, but BBC 2 isn't looking strong and there's still not enough specials.
I used to watch them at one time but I havent watched them in years and never will. So much crap on them these days I mean god how many times the other year did they kept advertising again and again about someone dying. A bit sick on xmas day.

I think most people will just watch DVDs ok alough ill probably watch the doggie programme.

I see ITV have already starting trailing 2017 programmes, so even they know their Xmas schedules are a pile of poo.

Plus a handful of other new and original dramas.

So you're perfectly happy to take the thread off topic for some good old ITV bashing, until somebody brings you up on it and THEN it's off topic? The post you 'agreed' with was off topic to begin with, so don't play that card.

I didn't take this thread off topic, please re read the thread, I agreed with another poster!

Why not stop this little thing you do of just picking on my posts! Rather silly IMHO.

ALL you want to do is " get personal" rather than add value to a thread.

Yes, " repeated" Harry Potter taking up circa 16 hours of ITV prime time.

Well why not start trailing the New Year programmes when you have the viewers watching the finals of IAC and TXF.

Btw They are trailing Christmas programming and New Year programming.

ITV don't have a decent schedule for the other 51 weeks of a year, so why would Christmas be any different?

Christmas Day on BBC1 looks dire this year, come on 'Christmas Bake off' ? Mrs Brown's Boys and Doctor Who? all poular, but I can't help but notice that quality is not a requirement now. reality TV is now omnipotent and theres no going back. I am just glad I grew up in a time when well written comedy and drama were still on TV. Before anyone says I am looking through rose tinted specs, which i may well be, just look at the schedules and ask yourself honestly if Xmas TV is decent. Doctor who, call the Midwife, and Mrs Brown's boys are on every year. Lazy scheduling.

There have been some promotions and trailers for some interesting programmes that will be on BBC over Christmas.

Seems they can't win, if they put on popular programmes which lots will watch then it is "lazy scheduling". I haven't see the schedule yet (Digiguide would have had it by now in the past but poor now) but sure there will be plenty of interest.

What exactly do you want on over Christmas?

I am talking about Christmas Day itself. I am sure there will be some great films and repeats on TV mostly BBC4, BBC2 etc, but on BBC1 on the big night it is getting less diverse and interesting. No decent sitcom, no decent drama either. I'd love there to be more ghost stories and comedy shows on Christmas night. Something more festive than Dr Who or Eastenders. But I realise this is what's popular, so I guess that's that.

How about a decent ghost story or a season of Laurel & Hardy classic films & shorts? I'd also love to see the Buster Crabbe Flash Gordon/Buck Rogers adventures again, after a gap of many years.

As for ITV, they've lost their way big time. Too much chasing the LCD and dumbing down to the nth degree. They're target demographic these days seems to be the same as The Sun newspaper - ie. people with a reading age of 11 and a similar size IQ. I can go whole weeks without finding a single thing worth watching on ITV1 and 2.

Digiguide's had the outline schedule for a couple of weeks and it was confirmed last Tuesday.
