"Just the one this weekend" - I think you mean the only one I've ever started. Not that you'll admit you were wrong.

You do spam the forums. That's my opinion. Your anti-X Factor posts for the last 15 weeks have been EVERYWHERE. I'm not the only one to notice it, your behaviour has been picked up upon by various members in the Ratings Thread, to which you claim you are the victim of personal attacks (which you have done here unsurprisingly).

You're accusing me of having an unhealthy interest in you () and have called me a stalker in the past for commenting on other threads you've posted in (even though I hadn't spoken to you directly). But no, it's me that's intimidating...

You do take a very unhealthy interest in all my posts.

I use words like unhealthy to keep within forum rules treating people with dignity and respect. Words you use I personally think are way outside the forums rules. But I am not a moderator which you called me last night, when I dared to disagree with you.

I know your goading me tonight to try to get me to say something wrong so you can report it. I am going to leave this pointless discussion and bite backs by you, as it must bore other readers who want to discuss Christmas TV.

Strange how you've accused other DS others of having an unhealthy interest in you as well. Rather narcissistic in my opinion, and maybe the problem lies with you not all the people you think are stalking you?

But, anyway, back to Christmas TV .

I'm looking forward to quite a lot over Christmas. Always nice to see a new episode of Mrs Browns Boys and Doctor Who. I expect we will watch The Lion King as there's nobody young enough in our house for Frozen.

You keep defending ITV, but far about five shows they haven't bothered.

And yet you keep bashing ITV and blindingly defending the BBC whether its hypocritical or not.

If the BBC had shown The Lion King and ITV had Frozen, you would be hailing TLK as the film to watch on Christmas Day because its a classic Disney film. As its with ITV, its not good enough because its a rpt. I think you have a problem with ITV as a whole, and can't let go.

The Lion King is one of Disney's best ever animations. This is the original Disney animation that stormed box offices around the world. Yes Ch4 showed it, but that was in the height of Summer where very few actually watched it.

Regarding Harry Potter, I would prefer ITV to show new programming on these nights, but in the last few years its just been cheap filler. So in a toss up between cheap filler and Harry Potter, I would vote for the latter.

And in reality, whatever ITV are showing, you are unlikely to watch really are you!? And if you are, what will you be watching and what would you prefer to see on ITV?

PS. None of this post it try to 'intimidate' you, or get you off the forums, or trying to make you say something to get you reported as you seem to bring up every time. I am merely have a debate with you to understand why you believe ITV should be putting in more effort, when whatever they do, will never live up to BBC in your eyes.

Yes the advertising income is low. As they've been in this game quite a while, you'd think they'd know.

Notice you don't see the full length John Lewis advert anymore and rarely see even the shorter version, that is a good example of how the christmas advertising season is front loaded back in November/early December. By next weekend people will have made up their minds what they are going to buy.

Also ITV isn't the entire commercial sector, nobody else is airing anything particularly strong, except the BBC.

While you don't enjoy them, both channels seem to have a mix of TV, aimed squarely at the family viewer, an excellent decision for Xmas day.

Don't have to watch TV.

Just stick a film or not watch TV at all.

I wouldn't mind seeing a real Disney classic on Christmas day. Something like Pinocchio or Dumbo.

Always worth another watch but why particularly on Christmas Day?

The Wizard of Oz is on C5. Would that be an acceptable substitute?

Christmas day for nostalgic reasons I admit. Also because I have the entire day off with no commitments.

I can't watch channel 5.

The Lion King is one of the newer Disney films (after the established classics era), though it is indeed a good film.

I would watch The Sword in the Stone, but I can't receive channel 4. I'm not in Blighty at the moment.

Not watched Sword in the Stone in years. I used to have a VHS version and there was a very strange cartoon ad of these leeches drinking blood from someone who brushed them off when they woke up. No idea what the hell the cartoon was.

From the schedule, the BBC doesn't have anything particularly "strong" (i.e. good, different, noteworthy) either. It's mostly just the same old programmes that they run all year but with "christmas" in the title.
If you like BBC1's run-of-the-mill light entertainment then you'll watch their christmas schedule: because that is exactly what it is.

If you don't like it, then you're snookered. You could try buying series box-sets - if you're easily persuaded to buy crap you see advertised and haven't worked out yet that all a box-set is, is REPEATS, that the TV companies manage to get the gullible to pay for (again). Otherwise it's Netflix, Amazon, a drunken stupor or the worst possible option: talking to your relatives.

It's crazy that across the main 5 terrestrial channels that for me there is virtually nothing worth watching on Christmas Day until 5:45pm!! I can't remember a Christmas Day as bad as this before! So will be watching quality TV series and films via DVD until then. I've picked Star Wars The Force Awakens as the main Christmas Day afternoon film this year!

Won't bother with the Christmas Top of The Pops this year. We watched it last year. Started watching it anyway. Reggie Yeates and Fearne Cotton presenting as usual. And the style and format of the show seeming stuck in a 2004 timewarp year after year! Same old, same old! During the first 15 minutes of the episode, all artists we've never heard of before, mostly male artists as usual, rubbishy songs. When Justin Bieber came on we all said "Oh god. What a load of rubbish this is!!" We couldn't take any more of it. And decided to switch it off, and put the big film on DVD 45 minutes earlier than planned! So no, we're not going to bother atall trying to watch this years show! I will skim through this years episode on Iplayer to see if there's any performances that are of interest to me, but I expect it will take than less than 10 minutes! Would be good if BBC4 started in the early afternoon on Christmas Day showing classic episodes of Top of the Pops from the 70's!

Boxing Day looks a load of crap too across the main 5 terrestrial channels! Too many bloody animated films! Will have to have watch things on DVD for much of the day too!

Previously I said 2008 or 2009(not sure which) was the worst Christmas period TV ever. This year looks to be even worst than that!

That's because there were complaints that the full JL advert was sort of implying to young children that Santa was actually mum and dad..

Poor choices on Xmas Day itself, though I'll watch BBC more than ITV, with Mrs Browns Boys being the only must watch for me. There's more interesting stuff on other days.

I see BBC2 are showing Alan Bennett's The Lady in the Van on Christmas Eve. That will do me very well.

I fear that may say a great deal more about your memory than it does the schedule!

I suspect that every year since 1937 there has been someone moaning that programmes are not as good as in the past!

Unless I am reading that wrong, the BBC have four news bulletins compared to three on ITV.
