I do not get why people have this obsession with her singing, she has a powerful voice and can hit a lot of notes but I personally find her accent and diction really not nice. I know she has the accent but It's so strong when she sings that I just can't warm to it.

So your problem is actually with her accent rather than her voice. It's hardly even noticeable when she's singing IMO, only becomes obvious when she's speaking and even then her English is exceptional, its just an accent and not a lot of grammatical errors or anything that would make her diffcult to undrerstand. She's doing very well for a non-native speaker.

And how's your Finnish?

I think she is the best singer in the competition and what also separates her from the rest is that she has great control. Far too often with big belters is that they tend to sometimes shout thier songs. Where as saara can give a softer and subtle notes and go in for the kill when needed. Her timing is perfect.

Saara's voice doesn't seem ugly to me. It could just be that the Finland accent isn't the most appealing of accents. Her clearness with English seems to be great to me. I can understand her perfectly okay when she speaks the English language.

Edit: I probably should have said Finnish accent.

Yes, that's what I've been saying. I don't rate her voice at all.

Saara is brilliant, and head and shoulders above the others.

It's not her accent or her diction, but I do find the tone of her voice very unappealing. She can sing in tune, but for me her voice lacks warmth and it's far too 'quavery'. Too much vibrato.

She hasn't got my favourite voice. I much prefer the tone of Louisa or Leona but I don't think it's ugly. I just think it's a tone that's very adult. Either way, I think she's very good at doing very technically difficult songs and I have to give her credit where it's due.

No, I love it. I don't consider her a typical "diva belter" though like Sam Bailey for instance.
Her voice is very unique sounding and her USP is that she excels at being able to sing both "light and shade" perfectly, which is something a lot of singers struggle at.
That's why I really want her to do a song like "Show Me Heaven" which would really showcase this skill off, a song that requires both extreme delicacy and belting in equal measures.

I agree, she is the only one who doesn't struggle to stay in tune!

No, what a strange idea. She actually has an operatic voice.

I like it. She sometimes does the wrong and takes the song to an odd note but that is merely an issue with arrangement.

I suppose on some level "ugly" is subjective, however, ,Saara's voice is lovely toned, she has a more than respectable range, and, actually, you are incorrect about the one thing you did give her credit for. She does not have a powerful voice. She can project reasonably well, and her voice has enough power for excellent dynamics (light and shade, soft to full sounding with nice varuiations ) and she puts that to use with true artistry and control, but powerful? Nope.

While she is limited in genres that suit her as well as tempo in some cases her vvoice is one that would be considered technically "good" and "beautiful" TLDR: On both a subjective and objective level I find her voice lovely

OK I'm going to be honest - she has a good voice but nothing special to write home about. Some forum members really think she is the best thing since slice bread but she actually isn't.
I said exactly the same thing about Sam Bailey too

I'd take Saara's 'ugly' voice over Matt's faltering falsetto any day of the week....

5 after midnight were brilliant with their Christmas number. I like Matt but he never
seems to have quite the right song to do him justice.

What well-known female singers would you say has a powerful voice?
Yes, I like the way Saara's voice has a reasonably amount of power to hit the high notes.

Although strong, I never thought of Saara's voice as powerful either. When I think of powerful singers, the likes of Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Alison Moyet, Helen Reddy comes to mind. There's more but these are some examples.

Sam Bailey was awful, she literally won to celebrate the 10th anniversary, her singing was not very good most weeks imo.

With Saara she has a very good voice, but through no fault of her own I can't get too excited about her because she doesn't do the style of Music that I'd root for, I however do want her to win the final.
