I think it's a combination of fan base + performance + order what decides who lands in the bottom two.
Also, by Disco week there still was Sam, Ryan and even Honey G who performed even worse than them, keeping them off the bottom two, also, Sam's and Ryan's fanbase was a lot smaller than the rest. By now I get the feeling that most of them have the same fan base level, so that gives a lot more weight voting wise on how they perform. |

I don't agree. Matt was not good, and yes Emily was more in tune than him, but he made a better connection with the song, and put in a better performance due to energy, dynamic contrast and emotion.
Emily has such a weak voice that she is only able to sing softly, and more softly still. This is very limiting. Song choices have to be so careful for this girl to play to her strengths. She has been criticised all series for not going up tempo, but I have never cared about this. I would have liked her to put in a performance with some kind of climax - but she is not capable of this. Don't get me wrong, I do agree that Matt has more potential to have a comeback in the finale and have a "Writing's On The Wall" moment and then be announced as the winner, but he didn't win that sing-off. |

Ergo, she beat him.
They were signing songs, not painting seascapes. There is WAY more to singing than just good intonation. All the things I mentioned for a start! But I do get how you can't get past the poor tuning. |

What? I like Matt but even Emily was better than him in the sing-off tonight... he was out of tune half of the time.

Saying someone is out of tune is not hating, it is not making personal insults and it is most certainly not jealousy.
I agree that some posters are making themselves look stupid mind.......

I am really surprised to hear you say this - by this reckoning, he could have sung Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, kept it in tune and you would say their performances were equal.

Is it jealousy? Matt is amazing & I really can't believe the nasty comments towards him on here. People make themselves look very stupid. If they can't recognise talent they shouldn't even be watching a singing contest. It's pathetic making ridiculous personal comments about him, no need for it. I agree, it is really sad.

It was emotionally devoid. You could see him trying so hard to hit the runs. Watch Christina perform that in her prime - Matt was nowhere near.

Matt was better than anything Saara has sung?
I'm sure hormones clog up people's ears sometimes.

I fully expected him to leave his heart on the stage, but he trudged through it as though he'd already accepted defeat. I saw no energy, connection or emotion (other than fear) from him whatsoever. Emily at least raised her game, and it was her best vocal since 6CC.

Personal comments such as...? People are simply giving their opinions on how they found his sing-off and his performances, which they are entitled to, it's not personal.
He seems a nice kid but he's so bland and vanilla as an artist, |

I can 100% say I've felt more emotion in Matts performances than any other contestant on the show.

Awful singoff from Matt...as least with Emily she sang her heart out despite that constant cough she has. ...but the tide had turned big time for her...and she would have been voted out....if not tonight, it would have been next Saturday for sure!!!

I'm no fan of Saara but she sings him out of the park.
Jamie Afro did a far better version of Hurt s few years ago As for Saara, Sada Vidoo has done much better versions of songs that she's sang during her time on the X Factor. Sharon should have went with Sada. |

OMG the OP needs a ear test. He was pitchy in the chorus and flat in the verse. He needs a falsetto lesson from Matt Cardle.

I quite liked his Silent Night. Anyone else think he looked like Russell Tovey in the close ups? I think its the ears.

I haven't seen any hostility towards Matt supporters on this forum
He's not everyone cup of tea, just like Saara isnt for others. Whats wrong with that? People are allowed to not like his sing off and ive heard detractors criticising Saara's vocals/tone/diction too. It doesnt both me. Why should it? And in all fairness a post, with that title, is designed to antagonise Saara fans, lets not pretend otherwise. Having said that, I actually don't mind Matt and I think vocally he has proven he can be, and is, brilliant. His performance of the james bond classic should not be forgotten. The last couple of weeks have not been his best and while his rendition of hurt was not spectacular, it was decent, Just like Saara's chandeller. For me though Saara has been on a better journey IMO. Matt started strong and still is but I just dont feel enough with him. Where as Saara started off as a outsider and has really fought her way to the final, despite the knockbacks, criticisms etc. I admire a fighter and the fact that she's proven that she's versatile and can deliver notes on a different scale, makes me root for her even more. Even if you dont like her, it's not difficult to see why she's garnered so much support. I don't think she will win though but she has earned her place. |
