They're not homophobic. Will Young came out a day after winning Pop Idol, Joe McElderry came out and wasn't penalised in any way by Syco, Lauren from Fifth Harmony came out as bi just the other week.

This 'Simon is a self closeting homophobic bastard' shit has filtered down from the Larrries, who think SC is gay and imposing a closet on Harry and Louis, even though Louis at least is definitely straight, with his two long term relationships and baby with a third woman.

If I was Matt I think I'd be affected by constant rumours. I know it's a depressing part of being in the public eye that everybody feels entitled to speculate and comment on your sexuality and relationships but he's experiencing it for the first time here so it's bound to be on his mind and possibly having an impact on his performance.

Maybe Simon is using a bit of reverse psychology. He must know that there is often a backlash against the "chosen one" so by appearing to lose faith in Matt, that accusation goes away. There's also usually a bit of a surge in votes once somebody has been in the bottom two so Matt's fans won't be complacent next week, giving Syco the little throwaway puppet winner that they want.

I don't think so he just saved his own act in the sing off and that's what he should do as a mentor therefore he had to send Matt home in order to keep his own act

This gay rumour is probably a cynical attempt to generate more interest before the final. I doubt Simon would care if Matt were gay.

It's a bit unfair to just assume that. The reason he's lost interest is because Matt is bland and he probably doesn't want another Matt Cardle/Ben Haenow situation. Also Saara is an out bisexual woman and I'm almost certain Jordan from 5AM is gay and it hasn't hurt their popularity

Being in a relationship with someone of the same sex doesn't mean that you're automatically gay. She was in a relationship with a man before she met her now girlfriend.

I think maybe Simon has turned on Matt as he is bitterly jealous of his relationship with Jordan. Matt probably tuned him down and you don't say no to Simon if you want to get ahead.

One reason he might have turned against him is that he has just signed Louis Tomlinson.

If I have a gaydar, it goes absolutely mental when it comes across Jordan. Several things suggest Jordan is sexually interested in the other sex and I get the impression he is either not closeted or is unaware some of his actions give that impression, even in the event that he turns out not to be gay or bi at all. And in all cases, I get the impression Jordan doesn't care. He seems very comfortable with how he presents himself regardless. Maybe Jordan was gifting Gifty before. Even if he's interested in guys, it doesn't mean he isn't interested in girls too. The world is your oyster and all that. But yeah, I can't ignore him randomly honking Matt lol

I think a lot of the people that are commenting on here haven't been around my generation of young people. We're very tactile. Sexuality is becoming increasingly less of a thing, people kind of do what they want. I know people like to speculate but I don't know how useful it is. Most important thing is Matt seems like a nice lad, the 5AM lads seem nice (though I'm only convinced that Kieran has a great voice out of them).

I don't think that Simon himself is homophobic, I just think that himself (like Syco) are scared to do anything away from the "straight" boy or girl doing Pop numbers, they also have to be White or mixed race, they can't be fully black or Asian most of the time.

So yeah Matt and Saara are in very deep trouble on Syco as they won't wanna gamble on something that they've never openly tested before, where as with Jordan he'll be kept in the closet as they have the other two speak in interviews.

By the way I'm not saying it's right, but it's how Syco works.

I've looked at the lyrics in that and they could very well be about someone who's attracted to the same sex. He could have been shoved in the video to keep a bit of mystery about it.
