The Finnish votes weren't there then. Do you not remember Louis saying people just don't like you? Finland must vote and Saara saying they can't? Someone said then use the App....hey presto!
That proves nothing. How do you when and what times and when exactly 'Finnish votes' came in? You don't. No one knows when these 'possible' votes came in. Your speculating based on one comment and using that as evidence.

Like I said before if 4th impact could not get through the finals given thier population - and bearing in mind they appealed to a younger market who are smart phone savvy - what makes you think that a tiny place like Finland would have any influence? - and again that's only IF?!

There's a very simple solution to all this. Stop the App voting. Problem solved 😉
I agree. That would solve the problem.
Semi-final live had 260 000 viewers in Finland. If some of them managed to vote we are talking about few thousand voters. That wouldn't affect much.

It seems to be much simpler with Android than with Apple. With Android you just go to the UK Google Play site. You don't need any account other than probably a Google account which needs no physical address and no verification of your name.
Like i said, still WAS NOT Able to download the App.

Votes are being accepted by the app, but are they counted? Only X Factor production knows that for sure.
if they are not capable of preventing International voting via the app in the first place I doubt very much they will be sifting through the votes attempting to discover ones originating outside the UK! So i would say they'll be counted for sure!

Remember that most of those watching in Finland are likely to be "Saara Motivated" as this is a foreign show and therefore more likely to vote. With the app you get x5 votes so with just 100,000 voters you would be talking 500,000 votes . Dermot said they had received 2 million votes last week so this actually would represent close to 25% .....not so small!

It's Trump all over again.

If Saara wins a bunch of numpties will be convinced it's cheating no matter what the evidence to the contrary. If she loses they'll suddenly go all quiet.
Indeed. We had the same nonsense with 4th Impact and the app last year. When they crashed out in 5th place, the "they must be cheating" crowd promptly vanished.

So you're claiming that 100,000 Finish people will go through the hassle of looking up a valid UK address, registering a new e-mail address, creating a new iTunes or Google Play account just so they can download the app.

Sure thing.

Considering the hype surrounding Pokemon Go only resulted in about 10,000 UK users going through all the above to download it from the US stores, I highly doubt it.

Look at it another way - Out of 10 million X-Factor viewers in the UK only about 10% bother to vote.

Amount of voters is nowhere near 100 000. It is at most in the couple thousands, probably in hundreds. Out of 260 000 a small fraction has ever even heard that there is even a possibility to vote. Maybe more now that it has been all over the news.

I'd be willing to bet votes from Matt and 5am's hometowns will far outweigh any potential votes from Finland that might sneak through. The Philippines had no impact on 4th Impact's vote and they have a far bigger population and 4th Impact had a far bigger online fanbase than Saara.

There is no way a 100 000 would go to that much trouble and vote for saara.

No I'm not claiming anything I'm just saying it is a possibility! To be honest I'm not really fussed who wins! with or without International votes....but i might be if I'd placed a bet!
I know only 10% or less of UK viewers vote but think that that might be higher in Finland as to be watching a foreign language show during prime time i would say they are likely to be big Saara supporters in any case! And as a Finnish poster has already said he didn't need to do all that in order to vote!

The show wasn't broadcast live in the Philippines nor is internet access as widespread whether the Finnish vote has a tiny or huge impact I'll bet it is a much bigger one than the Filipino one was for 4th impact for these reasons.

Yep and I remember their fans from Philippines were rabid and quite obsessive too. They'd go onto YouTube videos of others finalists that year and rubbish them and not have a bad word said about their girls. Honestly, if they - with thier determination, thier population, and thier obsessive tendencies - could not get 4th impact ipast 5th place what honestly makes people think a small percentage from Finland would make a difference to saara? - and that is still a big IF. It's still speculation that this is actually happening.

Can it not just be that saara has got this far on talent? Is that not possible? After all it happened to Samantha Jade and she was in the bottom 3 times. She still won the show.

I highly doubt it and I fail to see how a comparison between something so different can be made.. I can't see live broadcasting hving a big impact in votes when you look at thier popuation compared to Finland. In the end it's the numbers that are more influential, not broadcasting measures. If fans of fourth impact found a way to get the girls in the final via app, they would have.

There is no denying Saara's talent for sure and for the record i don't really mind which of the three finalists wins but having said that this IS a competition with voting rules and therefore producers/ITV have a responsibility to look into any breach of those rules no matter how big or small. There are after all people betting money on the outcome of the show.

I repeat again, I did not do any of that. I literally just put x factor into app store and it downloaded. Maybe I had a bug, but I did none of this "fake address" stuff people keep going on about

I'm not arguing otherwise and if there is a breach, there should be an investigation. I'm not disputing otherwise. I also think there is no way itv would let a voting scandals slip them by, especially after what happened with Katherine Tate years ago. If something is suspicious offcom would be all over it like a rash. However some of the reasoning on this thead and the tabloid rags don't make for a very convincing argument.

When you go to Finnish app store you can't even find the X Factor UK app there. It only shows up in UK app store and there you need UK account to download it. So it's really weird if you found the app in Finnish app store.

i think you do something to your device first so it thinks its in the UK and then go to the UK play store that is what the poster is saying he did. It certainly wouldn't be in the Finnish one lol

Some of my friends do something similar to enable them to watch BBC i player abroad

As others have said, the population of Finland is so small and only a tiny percentage would vote even if this was a Finnish competition. Given it's in the UK I personally doubt many Finns have tried to vote knowing the complications and also knowing that even if they do find a way to vote on the app there is a good chance it will be discovered and wont count.

I'd be willing to bet 99% of Saara's votes come from the UK, probably 100%.

This story is only going to benefit Matt & 5AM which is unfair on Saara because she deserves to win and she obviously isn't to blame for any of this.

Hopefully her UK fans vote more than ever this weekend to make up for any she might have lost due to this story.

X Factor UK has been broadcasted in Finland for years and ratings have always been about the same. Semi-final didn't peak in ratings so it seems there is no "Saara motivated" viewers.

Your telling that 100,000 of 260,000 viewers would vote when it's really hard to download the app to vote. I don't think so.

Just looking at her fan pages like *Suomi kannustaa Saara Aaltoa" will show you people have been voting from Finland. They posted the instructions several times on that page, but now are only sharing them via private messages ( this becomes clear when looking at the comments there..) so no way are only Brits voting for Saara. There's no point of downplaying the affect of the Finns voting for her, its still wrong. Not to say she couldnt win without those votes, she should be able to as she's been a professional for over 10years. So yes, naturally, she should be miles ahead of the other non-experienced young competitors.

Yeah, but in Apple app store you need the UK account to download the app. He was talking about the app store. I don't know how things work in play store.

Now i get it... is it possible that you downloaded this other app that has NOTHING to do with Xfactor UK ? There are at least 3 different apps that can be downloaded, none of them are related to UK Xfactor
