Scarlett wasn't my favourite campmate but I wasn't unhappy that she won, I thought she deserved it to be honest. She might be a wannabe but she came across as really nice unlike that other awful girl who won last year.
You mean the one who almost hit Scarlett with the crown .

I think they have a hell of a lot in common, TBH. Weight loss DVDs, MTV reality shows and they are both, from where I'm sitting, wit-free zones. If anything, Vicky (much as I can't stand her) was marginally sharper when she took up residence in the hut last year than Scarlett was this year. Scarlett just morosely narrated what we had just seen or were just about to see.
But this is the problem I'm a celebrity has now more than any other reality show. it doesn't know who it's audience is

For a lot of the itv audience Scarlett is a nice wholesome lass from the north east who is new to the fame game.

Likewise pattison last year

However the vote is controlled by the app voters now that traditional viewers have no say in the winners of this show

When they said no reality people this year that wasn't really true what they meant Scarlett was the pre planner winner and having no people from towie geordie shore etc would ensure that happenec

Yeah I thought that. How dare she be how she is and unless I missed it she didn't play on her disability either ..... All the synical lot of you missed that.... If she really was playing up she would have played on that. I wasn't aware that the beauty salon program was an MTV one but it was no where near "The Valleys" it was like the hairdressing one. Hardly sensational!! She has had a medical condition since she was 11 that has caused confidence issues as it has left her technically disabled. She mentioned in her interview she was weird and didn't fit in. That is why I take people at face value as you really never know what is going on behind the smile. Why not stop being so b itchy and give people a chance

I didn't say that Gogglebox is set up and scripted at all, I don't think it is. What i was saying was that she was on a pure reality show like TOWIE, before Gogglebox so she is not some novice on the TV scene she has made a calculated decision to try and get famous, which is fine, but not the Im just a girl from the Tv that watches TV,
It's not exactly scripted for them to say specific things, but the families are prompted by producers to respond to certain things in whatever way they normally would.

Who said being on a reality show was sensational and who is being bitchy? Who isn't giving her a chance, she won and will probably make loads of money from it and there is nothing wrong with that, good luck to her. i just said that she isn't the sweet innocent non celebrity she has made herself out to be, i have said many times in this thread i think she is a nice girl.

Why should she be congratulated for not playing up to her disability, that is what i would expect? Wouldn't you?

She did play up to her fear of small spaces and not being able to go in a lift in the past and yet there are loads of selfies of her and her boyfriend in a lift, so I was just saying that she isn't the frightened, unconfident, non celeb she says she is. That is fine, but just be honest about it.

Also, I am a massive fan of reality tv and watch a lot of shows, but I haven't appeared in one because i haven't applied for one. It doesn't matter whether the show she was on the Valleys, ex on the Beach or naked Attraction, there is generally only one reason why you apply to be on a show like that and that is to try and be on TV. Same as Gogglebox, we all watch Tv and make funny comments to each other in our house, but no-one from Channel 4 has come to film us yet, oh yeah, that's because we haven't applied to or haven't been asked. They only get paid £1500 a month as a family to take part, so those that do it, aren't doing it for the money, they are doing it for fame and the potential of other work.

I am an ambitious person myself so i am totally all for taking every opportunity you can and making money, why not, so it is not a bad thing at all. The whole point of my post is that i don't buy for one minute that she truly believes she is "just a lass that watches the tv" as most lasses that watch TV don't have a book deal and what is bound to be a top selling fitness dvd when it comes out.

Those that do have those things tend to be celebrities, so she should stop with the humble bs and just be proud of what she has achieved by being famous and a celebrity. If she wants to a role model, she should be saying, look what i have done by getting of my backside and making things happened, rather than pretending that she is just lucky - she has made her own luck and good luck to her for doing that.

Yeah, the OP sums it up. She's far from the naive honest little simpleton that she portrays. "Eeee ah'd rather have a million laughs than a million pounds". That was a very calculating phrase that she knew would resound with the working classes that love the show. What an endearing quality. It's like some sentimental guff Alan Bennett would have written.

This ^^^

And great post OP. Dead right.

I find it a bit tragic that being a 'reality show star' is actually an aspiration and is regarded as a 'career choice'. Fine legacy eh? I was just famous for being famous. Innit. Like, you know. Sort of.

What did I contribute to the world? My thoughts on biscuits, and stuff like. Wow.

What 'achievement'? Appearing on a reality show is an achievement? Since when? A nano second career of self absorbed desperation for fame, for doing nothing.

She has achieved a job on a radio station, best selling book and almost certainly a best selling fitness DVD and no doubt a TV career off the back of I'm a Celeb which is seen as one of the best reality shows in the UK, all of which will make her a lot of money, so the reality TV was a stepping stone to get her there.

Everyone has their own aspirations, hers were clearly to be famous and she has achieved that. She should just admit that, rather than the little ole me act,

I think a few of them were tells porky pies to be honest, Adam with his spiders for one.
I did believe Adam, he is on Emmerdale, he is not that good an actor! he obviously conquered his fears a bit as you probably would when you are in close contact with your fear as much as he was on the show, That is kind of how they cure fears, to subject you to them so that you can see they won't hurt you.

If the producers spent more time on fair editing, letting a natural winner evolve, rather than thinking we all want to see a 'Northern lass' come good, the show would be back to its best. Actually, I want to see the most entertaining win, as no doubt do plenty of others. If ever proof was there that she was scripted, the cheesy million laughs line says it all. This was made into a me me by the show before the final, which would have been put into action no sooner had the line been fed to her.

No way would anybody with a real fear of spiders, put one, and a massive one at that in their mouth.

Actually just read an article about Beauty School Cop Out, the first reality show she was on and apparently there were quite a few drunken scenes and she was on camera having a steamy snog with the scum bag Jeremy O Connell, ex CBB and stripping off for a spray tan. Is she that much better than the Geordie Shore/TOWIE lot! Certainly thinks she is.

as i see it, she is just being humble, and hasnt the ambition to be like others - not saying she might not take the opportunity if it ever arose. but i dont see her as a wannabe..
WATCH OUT FOR HER AGENT PULLING THE STRINGS FOR STRICTLY...
and Hollow Willoughby had better watch out the next time she has a 'baby break'....

As lovely as Scarlett is, this "little old me" used to watch I'm a celeb and now I'm on it act, doesn't fool me. This is her 3rd reality show, the first being MTVs Beauty School Cop Out which was about young people living in a house, learning the tricks of the trade in the beauty industry. As far as I'm aware she has a degree and a job (before she left to do the morning radio show) so didn't want to work in the beauty industry, so the only reason you would do that show, like most other reality shows, is to get famous, especially one as low level as that one. Now in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with that and if she did want to get famous, it was a great stepping stone to goggle box and then I'm a celeb. So why not just say that. This whole normal working class girl rubbish is starting to annoy me. As if she is looking down her nose at other reality stars from the North East that have made it. She hasn't had sex on TV, but she is a wannabe like they are, so just admit it. No real difference from the towie lot really and I'm a celeb said no reality stars this year.

As for her winning, she was good in the jungle, but I prefer my winners to be a bit less predictable, someone who I didn't know their personality and turned out to be a bit if a surprise. With scarlet, we got exactly what we expected but a bit less funny than on gogglebox. Also way too similar to last year's winner, no doubt we will see her on every show under the sun now as well.

I absolutely agree with you - it was obvious from Day 1 that Scarlett was going to win - I too was under the impression NO REALITY stars! I am very disappointed that Joel didn't win.

Personally I think I'm a Celebrity has had its day and should be retired. Everything is stale - and as for Extra Camp. . .

That's twice on the trot now that the 'winner' has no actual talent or achievement to their name ... just famous for being famous

This show has reached it's sell-by date

I'm not sure winning IAC is about your contribution to the world or talent. I think it's about how you come over on television.
We will be getting an edited version of events, but those contestants lived close and personal with her for 3 weeks and all said what a lovely and natural person she is.

And for a nightly show, the average viewing figures were 7.99 million, possibly over 9 million with all the time shifting , so I don't think it's failing.
