There are some articles about Strictly spoiler websites in the media this morning.

The Daily Mail's policy towards these websites seems confused, and almost hypocritical. The paper suggests that it's disgraceful to publicise these results in advance; but then tells the pubic exactly how to see these results.

Also, it seems a bit late in the season to start making a fuss about these websites.

It's up to the public to decide whether they want to know or not, I am grateful for these
'Spoilers', when it's a recorded show, no way can these leaks be stopped. It hasn't damaged the ratings so far, don't know what the fuss is about.

The press are upset, because they know they can't run spoilers (as they are part of the establishment) so don't like the fact that individuals do.

I don't think an individual can be breaking the law if they say 'I went to recording and X was eliminated' but the press obviously can't do it.

I'm sure if the spoiler threads were so wrong they would have been closed down long before now.

They are always clearly marked, so those who don't want to know the results, don't have to look at them. And it's hardly a matter of National Security, is it?

Exactly. There's no law that impedes an individual who has been to the audience to disclose the results. The BBC can't hardly make every single member of the audience sign a confidentiality agreement with binding effects.

The DF are certainly being hypocritical about the spoiler sites.
In the last few days they've publicised the fact that Alan Sugar has 'friended' one of the Apprentice candidates - something he usually only does once they've been announced as winner. (Didn't read the article so don't know if they actually said the person's name.)
And they blatantly showed the end credits of Eastenders which said who was responsible for the robbery as the actor(s) and their character(s) were listed.

They also tend to give details of what happened in various programmes within hours of them being shown, often before people have had a chance to watch anything they've recorded so as far as I'm concerned the DF can foxtrot off.

Not that they're getting a lot of sympathy. A lot of the comments say 'we've known about this for years' and 'you can find out who left from the bookies' sites', etc, while a further set follow along the lines of 'it's about time the BBC stopped the farce of the Sunday show being live'.

So funny! Nobody is forced to read a spoiler if they don't want to. If anything it will encourage people who didn't know spoilers existed to look for them.

exactly

Due to DM's publicity, Dave has had the highest amount of hits this weekend, over 30K visitors to his website.

DM is convinced it's an insider, they can't seem to comprehend that our mole is someone from the audience

The bookies, Dave and majority of spoiler sites gets their info from our Spoiler Thread.
The Spoiler Thread is marked clearly and gives a service to whom may want to know the results before the show is broadcast. If there wasn't a demand for this thread and other sites then they wouldn't exist.

The only reason the don't do it is they physically can't, by the time the result was known they have printed tomorrow's newspaper hours ago.

I've always found it rather ironic about latest news being printed on a Saturday evening.

Have to admit I find it quite amusing that the DM can't even get the celebs right.

They say the Christmas special will feature Denise Richards not Denise Lewis...

Idiots!

That's a bit rich coming from the DM as they reported the name of an eliminated contestant a few years back.

I clearly remember it as I did not want to know the result before the Sunday show and it was there on the Sunday morning.

I think (although I might be wrong) it was the week that Abby Clancy was in the d/o.

The Daily Mail articles invite responses which frequently contain spoilers. Someone said, with some glee, not only that Rob Rinder had gone out but gave away the (correct) winner of the Christmas Special.

The time I saw the spoiler, it was in the S o S and not in a response.

I think the way the spoiler runs at the moment is fine.
The result is there if you want to look for it, but if you prefer to remain unspoilt, you don't have to hide in a box to avoid it.
I do get annoyed at people who feel it's ok to post a spoiler on Main Board of DS (ie outside of the spoiler thread) then when challenged insist that "everyone knows result, you can't avoid it"

The regulars on the Spoiler thread are very good about keeping the spoiler in the thread, and also providing warnings about accidental spoilers elsewhere

The whole "why do they lie about the sunday show being live" is complete nonsense though. It's not a lie. The vast majority of tv shows are recorded.

The Telegraph had a bit about spoilers but only mentions the christmas show. Along the lines of ruining it for people by putting up online the winner.

Daily Mail hypocritical? You would be pushed to find a DM position that wasn't I'd have thought.

Match of the Day gets an audience even though everyone knows the results, all the game detail complete with scorers and post match reaction even get a couple of hours on the same channel earlier in the day. Not knowing the result is overrated, and increasingly irrelevant in a connected world. The only problem is not signposting them for those who want to avoid knowing in advance.

I don't believe that there has been a test case yet but its clearly a breach of trust, if I was lucky enough to get tickets I wouldn't want to risk getting black listed by the BBC.

how would they know who's the mole ?

9/10 the Mole sends a PM of the results which is posted in the forum. If I remember rightly, in the past some Moles actually text the results to another FM who passes the info on.
Very rarely a Mole posts directly to the forum.

Terry, the chance of you getting tickets again are minimal, (even if you were lucky enough to get one in the first place). I'd think given the number of people who apply for tickets, the BBC must keep a database of those who'd already been, to ensure that others get a chance.

Well other than "their people," some who get to go several times. Kara Tointon for one, she said, who was in a BBC soap, before she was on it.

I like to know my family and friends don't. I look they don't and I don't tell them.

Why make such a big fuss! If they wanted it a secret they would film on Sunday too!

There is an absolutely foul individual who regularly posts the results on the BBC Blogs. They are open to abuse like this, as there is no mechanism to ignore posters and the pre-mod stage is very easily passed.

Have had more need to report posts on there on a weekly basis than the whole of the season on here.

Thank you everyone here for your consideration for those who do not want to know the results. This year you have been exceptionally good at confining things to the spoiler thread. 💐🍫
