Racial segregation growing in the UK.
So why hasn't the cuddly multiculturalism melting pot worked?
Years have gone by with people questioning the problem of integration but labeled racist but now the government has finally acknowledged the problem. This problem gets swept under the carpet time and time again but now has got to a cross ways. I think if governments have to help integration that in its self shows that multiculturalism does not work. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38200989 |

Interestingly this has little to do with EU migrants, most of whom speak English and live in mixed communities.
Muslim immigration appears to be the biggest issue here - sadly successive governments and local authorities have allowed these mono cultural Muslim enclaves to be set up, including allowing religious schools and a form of sharia law which can be used to settle issues such as divorces. |

As part of his campaign to encourage integration Cameron cut spending on learning to speak English classes with the result that what classes that do exist have long waiting lists.

If you move to a foreign country then you should be prepared to make sure you learn the language. |

I wonder which particular community denies their women even "basic rights" and carries out "harmful religious practices"?

Nice to see the Dog Whistles are taking place already.
It would be ever nicer if people had the courage of their convictions when posting. |

Those 300,000 people per year have to come from somewhere, and I see no evidence whatsoever that this number will actually fall. |

When we leave the EU, and the allegedly-promised relaxed regime to Commonwealth countries comes in to play, the Eastern European migration may well be replaced with more migration from Commonwealth, Islamic countries. I'm struggling to see how this will fix the problem here.

Afaik that's not the case. The idea is that people from the EU will have the same requirements for entry as those from the Commonwealth.
We'll see. One thing is for sure, these countries want increased migration to the UK... |

A melting pot seems like it would only work/happen for multi-ethnic societies not multi-cultural ones.

Do those posters bemoaning the lack of integration want to have Mosques spread about the country, have Muslims move in next door to them, want their children going to school alongside Muslims, want to work alongside Muslim colleagues, want more Muslims to be taking part across all walks of life from shop staff to school teachers to police officers to politicians, and want to see more interfaith couples and marriages. Do those posters actually want UK society society more integrated and intermixed with Muslims?

To be fair though I am not sure why taxpayers should pay for people to learn English - if I go and live in France I wouldn't expect the French government to pay for me to learn French.

The report appears to focus on women and Islam and what it terms misogyny and patriarchy which is rather difficult to argue against. What to do about it ano matter.

There's more to multiculturalism than just Islam. Millions of black, Chinese and South Asian folk are perfectly integrated into our society, the huge rise in the numbers of mixed race kids and relationships prove that.

It's would be hardly noticed if immigrants were spread across the whole of the UK , that the whole point. It would be immigrants fitting into Britain rather than living a life like their mother country. And yes people would accept immigration it is was not to transform their towns like Bradford and alike
I remember a poster on a bus trying to encourage people from other races/faiths to join the Police force. What struck me most, was it referred to them serving "your community" as opposed to "the community". |

Do you know who you are talking about because I don't; you need to use the quote function.
I mean you won't, for reasons, preferring to feign ignorance. |
