If the patio is laid correctly in the first place there is no reason why there should be an issue. I got that and you are correct, well constructed decking, should never have an issue. But we have had to demolish and rebuild 2 decking's caused by poor construction coupled with weight of hot tubs. |

We have ours on a wooden deck specially built with extra joists - it's a 6 person tub so fairly heavy, it's been down for 7 years.
When we've hired cottages etc. with hot tubs they've all been on slabbed bases. |
