Had to change to HH5 recently. Chromecast audio won't connect to the new home wifi network (I have split SSIDs but was trying the 2.4GHz one), even after a hard reset. I tried 'soft' reset first via app settings, then when that didn't work, tried hard reset via button on the device. The chromecast audio found my home network but kept crashing it (error message unable to connect on all devices). Then even after I'd unplugged the CC audio, my samsung S5 wouldn't hold its own wifi connection for a few hours, although had tried the set up only via iPad app.

I presume the chromecast audio's own chromecastXXX network was overriding the HH5 network, but I've now kept it unplugged it and am tempted to just bin it as can't see a way round this and am fed up with it. Thought they were meant to be plug and play simple?!

I have recently bought a Chromecast for my (Sony smart) TV to make streaming films from non smart TV apps easier from my computer, android phone or iPad. Now worried that it'll crash my home wifi as well, although this would be a new set up. Just wondered if the app saved the old network settings or if that was specific to the CC audio itself only? Should I uninstall and reinstall the CC app in google home or no point? thanks for any help

Can you try the CC on another hub preferably friend or family, this will tell you whether it's the CC or BT Hub that's at fault. Lots of people seem to be having problems with the Wifi on HH5 and 6 especially since recent firmware update. Take a look at the BT community forums to see for yourself..

thanks, I can try next weekend at a friend's place although a bit nervous about causing them problems! HH5 might be the issue but I tend to think it is the CC.
had a look at this. It's from 2013 but similar probs to mine

I might just go back to wired between my macbook pro and the TV tbh.

OH wants a wireless speaker for music (I'm keener on wired sound) which hopefully won't do the same.

TalkTalk has suport page which deals with Chromecast problems. One which caught my eye was with BT HomeHubs (certain Apps not connecting).

Solution was to turn off the HH "Smart Setup" function.

thanks. That was the first thing I did after getting the HH5 as it initially gave me a lot of wifi problems with my samsung S5.

Bt home hubs seems to cause problems for some reason, certainly since they became dual band.
Next door neighbours 5 would not connect to their tablet, even after splitting the SSd, went back to HH4, a mates HH5 will not connect to his Iphone for Wi-fi calling, had to split the ssd and it did work then, another person I chat to have a problem with their smart hub or what ever it is called.

It seems the more advanced the router get the worse they get.

I use chrome cast audio, but I am using an old Plusnet router on plusnet and it works fine, not going to help you I know.
OH, I used my chrome cast audio with a Plusnet hub one, which as far as i know is a BT home hub 5, but without the smart setup and it worked first time.

Chromecast audio is normally so easy to set up and is plug and play.

thanks, bought the CC (not audio, TV one) at JL so might try to set it up and take it back to JL if it doesn't work.
My Sony TV is a smart TV but the input interface from apps is very clunky.

Most of the smart TVs i have seen seems to have clunky UI, I have a sony Blue-ray player,, that is also clunky as well, using netflix on it is sometimes a pain, move down or up a list to select something and it moves further than I want it to, so it is very light touch on the remote. so I tend to use my tablet and my chrome cast these days, I have got the video version as well, works well to be honest.
