why in soaps do people not get massive payouts for wrongful imprisonment?
like peter barlow, max branning etc ?

never mind - gives me an idea - using Dot af a victim of the telephone fraudsters - those who call elderly people on the landline claiming to call from the bank or the police, saying their account has been compromised and to transfer money to another account, or get it in cash for collection by a courier or "police" or whatever. The more who see it the better - in Dot's case they may give up - claiming wrong info - as there probably isn't much in her account. But sure they must get the info from someone - and sure they don't just make random calls. |

Because this is the UK not America. Very few cases result in payouts at all and those that do take years to settle. From parliament.uk ...
