Sorry if it's been asked but, do the whole family not get paid to be on Gogglebox? if so, why did her parents not pay off their own mortgage? if not, why not?

They get £1,500 per month to share between them plus Scarlett had a day time job. Her parents didn't pay off the mortgage though, they put it in an ISA account to save for her unbeknown to Scarlett.

They should've paid off the mortgage.

That sounds a bit daft, I would have thought with the interest rates on savings being rubbish it is more financially beneficial to pay off the mortgage first and then start saving up the money that they no longer need to pay from the mortgage (for Scarlett).

I would have thought the same.

I read they had put the money into an ISA if they still exist or its equivalent, for Scarlett's first house. I doubt that it will be needed for that if the offers of jobs are going to be coming in leaps and bounds.

Her parents must have a very small mortgage if she paid it off on her cut of £1500 a month.

That isn't what she used, she hosted a Capital breakfast show too and probably had a whole hosts of endorsements over the last couple of years.

She probably could have even made quite a bit from Public Appearances too if she did them.

Let's face it, everything wrong in the world is going to be Scarlett Moffat's fault as far as people on here are concerned. Poor girl, I don't know what she has done to earn such hate?

They saved the money in an ISA for her because it was her money, her parents said they didn't have much of a mortgage left & they were happy to work to pay for it themselves so they secretly saved Scarlett's money for her as a surprise. They seem like a nice family, its the sort of thing my parents would do

To be fair you missed out "some". As for them I doubt Scarlett will care in the slightest.

Me either , I think she was genuine and came across as a generous loving girl who had a lot of positive reasons for being in there. Adam talking about cutting off pieces of him for money was distasteful especially when people who have no choice lose limbs. But I have seen people comment on her response to that being fake too. She can't win. Yet her responses were quick and off the cuff and I didn't feel were disingenuous. I am around people and have to suss them out daily so I thought I was a fairly good judge of character.

That is what I would have done for my daughter. It's what you do for each other. I think they are very caring towards each other and there was an episode of goggle box when they were watching a program on cancer which brought back the time her Dad had it and they were all crying and holding hands...I was sobbing

Completely agree. I thought she was a lot more genuine than a few of the others in the Jungle.
For some reason she became this years target for some on here - they started the nonsense about her always being in front of the camera......... as if she had any control over that? From then on every small thing she did was blown up out of all proportion.
I find it very strange that folk can invest so much time hating on a young girl who has done them no wrong at all? Any ''anti Scarlett'' thread would have the same posters, lining up to take a pop at her?
I do wonder how some would react if the same comments were made about members of their family or friends? I know, from articles I have seen, that Scarlett's mother could not understand the hate for her daughter.

Could have helped.

She came across as a generous and genuinely decent young woman, I wish her well.

Hope it wasn't a cash ISA as they're basically the equivalent of putting your money under a more secure mattress now.

Scarlett is 26, so I deduce that the mortagage is virtually paid for by now, Scarlett just got them over the winners line and took all the glory

It certainly is, but would you broadcast it to everyone who would listen, or would you just keep it to yourself?

I really don't like the idea of Hate. It's a bit strong simply because people don't take to someone on TV.

As far as Scarlett is concerned: I don't think the bad feeling is at Scarlet as such, it's directed more towards those producers who did the editing of the whole 3 week show, and pushed her into our faces at every possible opportunity, to the detriment of other camp mates. They clearly wanted her to win, and she did, so no doubt they are patting themselves on the back. None of which was Scarlett's fault.

keep it to yourself, but just constantly remind your parents they needed a bit of help

also her little sister should know that when they come to sell the house, Scarlet is owed a bit
