The Mummy (2017)
Honestly, I don't think this looks all that inspiring, and if anything, reminds me more of X-Men: Apocalypse. An ancient Egyptian wants power and control of the world, and goes about destroying it in similar fashion.
More Tom Cruise too... Trailer Here |

Tom Cruise running for his life. CHECK
Tom Cruise on a plane going down. CHECK Tom Cruise shirtless. CHECK. Yawn seen it all before, plus just from that once sentence i can tell Russell Crowe's accent will be ridiculous. He'll probably say pip pip and tally ho. |

Looks like just the sort of passable, CGI-driven timewaster that did middling business during the summer. It would've fitted right in.
And isn't it time Tome Cruise moved on a bit? |

I don't see this doing well, too many fond memories of Brendan Fraser's efforts.
Cruise has done this sort of thing so often he's done every permutation of action hero behaviour. It's not surprising anymore, and that means boring. |

if it tanks at the box office, who do you think will be the first to use the headline -
Tomb Cruise! |

I can't watch a film with Tom Cruise in it. He just bugs me so much.

This just looks depressingly generic. Completely void of the sense of wonder and tone of the Frasier/Weisz films. It takes itself too seriously for one thing, and then substitutes any notion of identity for looking like your run of the mill action film.
Maybe it's just a personal preference, but it feels like a wolf in sheeps clothing situation. An idealistically historic adventure story being forced into the template of yet another modern action film. Utter mismatch, and Cruise just doesn't have the charisma or variety to him to carry something like this - even for the length of time it takes to watch a trailer. Even less inspiring is the need to have a cinematic universe for absolutely everything. It lowers the stakes significantly, and so few movies that contribute to the cinematic universe format actually stand well on their own - said as someone who is indifferent to nearly every Marvel film (I admit a bit of love for Guardians of the Galaxy). |

I thought the trailer looked awful, far too long (I may as well have watched the whole movie FFS) and too serious in tone. Good trailers show only "glimpses" not a whole scene!

Looks terrible.
They don't make good action adventures anymore. |

Yep, looks like a Tom Cruise which just happens to have The Mummy title. I think he's stroked his ego one too many times now. The 1999 film wasn't a cinematic masterpiece but it did have some character to it, had a sense of adventure with equally chilling moments as well as funny ones. This however looks dull. Even the actual Mummy looks unimpressive.
And I cant remember the last time Cruise played anything resembling an actual character. |

The mummy is female? how awful, is that some sort of equality rubbish?? No one can beat the portrayal by Arnold Vosloo, he was perfect in the role, I will not watch it , I know it isnt a Brendan Fraser remake, it seems to be more like the original black and white film, but I love Brendan's film so much that I just feel nothing towards this one after watching the trailer.
Like all of those other Cruise films( war of the worlds springs to mind) it will be just another Tom love fest, and I cant be doing with all of that. |

The trailer looks terrible. I'm sure the effects will be good and there'll be plenty of action and Tom Cruise will of course get the girl.
I doubt I'll be watching it at the cinema, if I want to watch The Mummy I'll stick to Brendan Fraser's version. Though I'm sure I'll end up watching it at some point, whenever my Dad is staying at mine he always picks some action movie from Netflix or Amazon for us to watch, this will no doubt be on the list before long. |

It looked as if they made a disaster movie and called it The Mummy
![]() Wizard of Ozil may be right about the "best scene" thing, but I dont think they should show that to such an extent in the trailer, it comes across as spoilerish. |

Replace Tom with Brendan Fraser and I'd probably like it. No one could ever replace him for me honestly. I know the movies weren't amazing, but they were fun to watch.

I did like the first two Mummy films with Fraser/Weisz but I doubt I'll watch this.

I know right? Everyone should know that only males were mummified.
Never women, ever. *sigh* Of course the poster probably doesn't realise there were many Mummy movies prior to Brendan Fraser's. |

It isn't even the first time there has been a female Mummy. There was one in Blood From The Mummy's Tomb in 1971.
Of course the poster probably doesn't realise there were many Mummy movies prior to Brendan Fraser's. She played quite a key part or have we forgotten about poor Anck-Su-Namun? |
