Which radio stations have closed down in 2016 you like most on DAB , FM , AM or on line?

I cannot think but it would be interesting to see how many have closed down.

I'm not sure it was all that profitable really. It would have been expensive to run.

Oak FM closed but a new station has taken its place. Magic Soul Summer and Magic Abba closed earlier but they were only temporary.

Radio 538 definitely and now it's been replaced with a very annoying tone that would annoy anyone.

Apparently it had very low ads sales, don.t know if it's BS or not.

That's why to cut cost's they networked with Signal 1 only from 7-10pm. Just think over a year ago it was still going.

They sold Juice to recover some of the millions lost on their new UTV Ireland TV channel which didn't meet expectations.

No, I suspect radiotuner is right.

Back in 2005, Juice was owned by Forever Broadcasting. That group was sold to The Wireless Group, at the time headed by Kelvin McKenzie. Juice was sold separately beforehand to AR-UK. This avoided having a McKenzie owned media property in Liverpool with its inevitable link to The Sun. It was then bought back into the TWG/UTV group once Mr McKenzie had left.

This time round, Juice was sold to Global whilst the rest of the group was sold to News Corporation, once again avoiding the link with The Sun.

Yes, not what appears to be a huge profit (although any accountant worth their salt will do their best to get the figures as low as possible for tax reasons) but enough to justify what it did and debunk the myth there is no money in running real radio station.

Juice in Brighton and Juice in Liverpool were both owned by Forever Broadcasting at one point. Before this, 107.6 in Liverpool was an alternative music station called Crash FM and 107.2 in Brighton was known as Surf 107.

My memory isn't good enough to say when they stopped being under common ownership, but this is why we had two stations at opposite ends of the country with the same name.

Forever sold Brighton Juice back to the original owners in 2003

Juice Brighton was also briefly sold to UKRD but brought back this year.

I stumbled upon Magic Abba by chance and then listened to it daily. I was sorry when it ended.

2003/4 when Forever was sold to TWG. Juice Brighton went back local, Juice Liverpool went to ARUK. Brighton was too small and too distant for TWG to want, and they didn't want the hassle of owning an outlet in Liverpool and the resulting bad press .

I guess they would say that. They had been in discussions over what to do about the radio division for quite a while at that point, and to come out and say 'we're offloading Liverpool again because the people we're trying to sell the rest of the group to won't want it', probably wouldn't have made good business sense.

They two sales may not be linked but the same station has been hived off separately twice, whilst others in it's group have been sold to someone with a connection to The Sun. Coincidence? I dunno.

At the time of the sale it was prior to the sell off. The boycot only affects the sun, Juice would have been fine with the new owners provided they didn't attempt to run ads for the sun.

10 million quid goes a long way towards getting rid of debt.
