Anyone remember that 9V battery hack that would let you watch box office movies?
Though with the annoyance of having to keep pressing Back-up to keep the channel display menu away.

I wish we had something like that back in the day. I remember they would let you watch the first 5 minutes of a film before it cut off, albeit with the on-screen channel display which took up one third of the screen. Though sometimes they'd forget to encrypt the signal and you'd get a free movie

I was reading that Sky Store has been extremely successful, especially the deal where you get a physical copy of whatever you buy.

Sky Box Office had its time really, Even sport really should not be pay per view. It comes from a time when Sky Gamestar was quite popular. In cause you did not notice the gamestar leftover service was closed last year.

Shame for the small percentage that can't get broadband, but otherwise Sky must have reached the tipping point of commercial viability.
Does this mean they'll be able to re-open the SD EPG queue, must be a few slots right there. This might make more money than the revenue from rentals. |

Anyone remember their first Sky Box Office rental? Mine was The Long Kiss Goodnight during the first week that SBO launched. You had to phone to book the screening and it cost £2.99. You could also record it too. Odd to think that the films were exactly a year old. Now a year old film is on Sky Cinema.

In all the years of Sky Box Office and pay per view I have only ever ordered one film. That being Erin Brockovich starring Julia Roberts! I now get my films free via torrents....but I didn't say that right?!

I don't want to buy the DVD because it's a film I know I'll only want to watch once and Netflix is just too far away (even if it becomes available at all) Ordering a film via PPV does fill that niche |
