Some people are wrongly claiming benefits. We know. It is only a tiny amount of people though.

No. You fill in a 70 page form, get a section filled out by a qualified person, send it with all your medical reports and any other information they require and if you are lucky you get an answer in a month or so. I applied for carers allowance over 2 months ago and still haven't had an answer.

Agree. Claiming any benefits nowadays is humiliating, demeaning and stressful.

Well you can also say, that the DWP found him unfit to work, as they are the people who decide these things.

This is what happens when you take what's written in the far rightwing rag the daily mail as the truth; using Hawking as an example shows this to be the case because by using that example then every able bodied person should be able to run as fast as Usain Bolt!!

As far as the assertion that there must be work out there for everyone it turns out that the actual test is is it reasonable to expect someone to work if they have some mental or physical disability....note the word reasonable.

So yes you're clearly missing quite a lot. Best not to think about it too much as it may cause you brain overload.

Thanks. It's been just under 8 weeks since application I think, back pay of over £500 going in this week apparently. Been an awful, awful year and this has just been another stress but all sorted now.

Hope it's a sign of better things to come for the New Year. Treat yourselves with that £500.

Can't comment on how others will feel but I know how stressful it is for all concerned when claiming benefits - I know a few waiting to hear about their (ESA and PIP) claims atm.

I think you will find that most sensible people are very happy that deserving claimants obtain benefits they are entitled to. It's those spurious claimants who bleed the system and leave less in the pot for the genuine
