What was he guilty of? Other than taking possession of a gun? Just looking for the death sentence crime here.
I don't really care to be honest, one less toerag on the streets. Shoot me.

Yes. He was no angel but I think they tried harder than they should have to to make the evidence warrant their actions which is worse than an error of judgement in my opinion.

Their 'intelligence' was spot on as well, who was that coming from and why weren't they after the big man?
Maybe it was intelligence that gave him the "gun" the couldn't find.

I will say though that the police were a cowardly shower of shits in the way they handled/mishandled the case.

Absolutely, thats the problem. I can understand mistakes and particularly in this case but their behaviour after undermines everything they should stand for.

The police do cover stuff up ,, look at Hillsborough.

If Duggen did have a gun then he only has himself to blame imo , if the police planted it there then i'm shocked at what goes on and the lengths they take to cover things up,, but it looks like we will never know for sure.

I thought that was good. I was half expecting the BBC to toe the line and it be a bit of a white wash but it highlighted the still as yet unanswered questions.

An interesting programme. While Deegan may have been a bit of a bad lad, there is still something a bit funny about how the police handled the case, it has to be said.

I don't really care to be honest, one less toerag on the streets. Shoot me.
This attitude sums up well why the police have historically been able to get away with corruption over long periods of time, ranging from the Guildford 4 to the Hillsborough disaster. Who cares if they did what the police allege or not, they are a bad lot anyway so probably had it coming to them, right?

Having watched it I am so angry the Metropolitan Police shot and killed the man who according to the programme makers was destined to become the next Archbishop Of Canterbury.........

Don't put words in my mouth and don't try and conflate my opinion on the case in question in order to make a broader point. It's terribly bad form and more than a little bit rude.

Watch out, some clever dick will accuse you of being responsible for Hillsborough.

The firearms officers have an incredibly difficult job to make split second decisions about a potential threat to life in such chaotic situations.
Yes the do but they are also TRAINED to be able to know the difference between potential and actual...

people in the area were so sad about his death that they smashed the place up and robbed TV's
I think you will find that the majority of this kind of crime was committed by opportunists... I mean the same level of violence occurred in Manchester - what did that have to do with Mark?

I don't really care to be honest, one less toerag on the streets. Shoot me.
I really hope you never find yourself in a similar situation and have the world assume you too are a toerag...

I will say though that the police were a cowardly shower of shits in the way they handled/mishandled the case.
You surprise me - or were you being sarcastic?

The police had no respect for his family.
Absolutely.... but then Mark wasn't blond with a strange marking in his eye...

TBH I have little time for the Police these days, but facing a firearm situation we can all be so clever after the event. And much of the "eye witness" evidence offered in this programme wasn't challenged.....
