The manipulation of Matt Terry
Anyone still think the show isn’t capable of affecting the public vote after Matts treatment on Saturday night?
He went from being seemingly untouchable to bottom 2 following performances that were no worse and in some cases better than previous weeks when he’s sailed through after being handed a combination of bad press, poor staging, and bad comments. So all these supporters that the nay sayers constantly remind us know their own minds and cannot be influenced just suddenly woke up this week and decided they didn’t like Matt any more????? |

It seems to me they want saara to win now don't know why, can't see her setting the charts on fire, now the Finland fix.

They've been pushing for a Matt VS 5AM finale all season, I don't think they will give up on that just yet. And even if they might, they probably will do whatever they can to give the victory to Matt. Plus, being in the bottom 2 just can help him by getting the rebound vote, which at the finale might make quite a difference. |

It doesn't make sense..
I reckon had he not got any negative comments, he wouldn't have been in the bottom two. His performances were no worse than when he sang Wham and Best Of My Love. |

They are full on sabotaging him now. Although they can't hate him that much or they'd have sacked him off in the semi final sing off when they had the chance.
Emily had received better comments so I was surprised when they kept Matt over her |

They have in no way turned against Matt. They don't want everyone thinking Matt has always had this in the bag and that the show/the final is unpredictable, so they've manipulated the show so that everyone in the final has been in the bottom 2 to make it seem like it really is a close race where any one of them could take it and Matt didn't just effortlessly take it and have it in the bag all year but had to fight for it.
Last Saturday's comments were clearly gunned at a Matt/Emily bottom 2, but they've been trying to slow down Emily and get her out for weeks now. Especially as she'd have Ryan's votes too, she would be very dangerous in the finals. If you listen to the way the judges talk about Matt, even Simon on the Xtra Factor after Emily was eliminated, they still want him to win this. And he's very desperate to win this. |

I don't think the song choices were right for him, at this point it's all about choosing the right songs and I guess he just didn't. It could just be that people expected him to be safe but people tend to vote harder in the last few weeks and they usually get a lot more votes coming in for the semi-final so people can't get complacent. That being said I still think he should have been safe and 5 After Midnight should have been in the sing off.

BAsed on my knowledge of what the plan was (MAtt fits closest to desired "winner"/girl and band in semis), and how the show operates, I actually predicted a Matt/Emily sing off with Emily going home after reading about the semi-de-pimping of Matt, and without having wacthed since Relley's send off.I don't need to because I heard enough to know what the acts can do and because the producers,if you know the game, are *that* predictable
It actually makes sense they did this at top4. Because a few people, myself included, made very clear since before the show what was going to happen, how and why, they had to try to make it seem less manipulated for a Matt win.Saara is great when singing a suitable genre to her limited comfort zone but generally awful outside that zone, hence the ideal "competition" for the "winner" as she is credible as a finalist yet can easily be sent home with no manipulation beyond an uptempo song selection and/or one requiring soulful vocals .Matt's "outing" puts him on equal footing with her as far as what producers likely see as the "lgbt" vote( yeah they actually think this way lol)and the de pimping happened at the "perfect" time as in right before the semis and against the last act remaining who he can out sing...expect hi to "really come back" this week . After jumping through so many bs hoops I hope all 3 acts see success Having said all this ,you're right. It did prove how easily the public can be influenced. |

Written quite the story there. But the thing is that post hoc justifications are what anyone can do. It's just writing a fiction that is vaguely plausible to a certain group who have particular prejudices about the show. If you could accurately predict each voting event before it happened, then that would be evidence for this claim. The above is just stating what happened after the fact with the benefit of a contrived narrative about the machinations of 'sinister' producers.

Matt had a bad week, with two patchy performances of dull songs. The mauling he received from Cowell was more than justified. He fully deserved to find himself in the bottom two, and he was soundly beaten in the sing-off by a supposedly weaker act. The shock on the faces of Saara and 5AM after the judges" absurd decision to send Emily home said it all. Cowell clearly wants 5AM to win, and he set the stage for that with his comments after the sing-off a week ago. No 'deramping', no 'de-pimping' (because Matt hadn't been pimped in the first place), and no Sofabet drivel (despite 25% of the posts in this thread being paraphrased from that tedious website). Matt simply gave him the ammunition. |

Spot on. The staggeringly obvious portrayed as insider knowledge.

Keep going, I'm enjoying the paranoia that evil forces are gaining traction in their orchestrated plan to make an act win, but no can agree which act is being set up to win. Makes lots of sense and definitely isn't crazy.
