Well, if they can show Citizen Khan, and the awful Walliams an Friend tosh, it's hard to argue against reviving this dinosaur.

Tim Vine is sorely missed on this show and, although she's a lovely girl, Sally Bretton was no replacement for Megan Dodds.
I thought Lee Mack was running out of ideas and good gags, anyway. |

IIRC Lee did a pilot which wasn't picked up based on 'Everybody Loves Raymond', a show with a comedian as lead, a rather bickering husband and wife relationship, 3 kids including twins and other often irritating family members. Hang on!
![]() I've always liked NGO and Lee Mack so will be tuning in to see how they've developed things. |

Not the same really without Tim Vine, any chance of getting him back?

Band was my favourite - lots of good gags. After TV left, it wasn't worth bothering with, esp that dire Xmas special.

Regarding Tim Vine, it’s interesting see how highly regarded he is in terms of his role in Not Going Out.
He didn’t have any involvement in the writing of series (apart from the occasion line he’d suggest) and he’s not a professional actor. Yet for many the show’s success was based around both Lee Mack and Tim Vine. And to be honest I don’t disagree, but it’s interesting how popular he was in it considering his actual involvement. |

Shame they've brought it back now the story has concluded. Just like Men Behaving Badly they should have finished it once the characters got together and started a family.
Let's be honest, having screaming brats running about in a sitcom isn't funny, it's just annoying and has been done many many times before. Give it a rest Lee, let the show die! |

It does seem strange how successful sitcoms just have to 'go for one more'. OFAH suffered the same fate about 4 times over.

One Foot in the Grave had the right idea. Make the absolute perfect finale, while also writing it so that it can never be brought back.

Alough I did want Margaret to batter the other woman when she found out it was her friend. |

I'm surprised that Tim Vine left the show, because he's certainly a lot better at acting than he is at his rather tiresome stand-up routine.

I'm sure that in an ideal world everybody would have loved Megan to stay on but she did 6 episodes 10 years ago (Sally completed 49) so she can hardly be said to be the defining character of the show.

He had the right blokeish chemistry with Lee, which they've not regained with Hugh. For me it's that relationship that's missed rather than the character. It helped ground the show.
Don’t get me wrong, I really like Tim Vine. I’ve seen him do stand up live. I enjoyed him in Not Going Out and don’t think it’s really been the same without him. But when you analyse it, he actually contributed quite little to the programme. |

She seemed sweet and nicer. Sallys character seemed argumentative.

I agree, I think that she is a weaker actress and that is why there is less warmth to her than the original
Sally's character could never stand Lee so not really sure why the writers have gone in this direction. |

So whats up with the new series? They were flatmates who didnt seem to like each other and now the new series is picking up with them having 3 kids?
