I often go to Cambridge, my experience of out of area radio stations in normal conditions is as follows.

Most of the London stations work fine but not necessarily in perfect stereo with RDS.
Capital is swamped out by BBC Camb on 95.7 from Peterborough
Radio X is swamped out by BBC Leics

BBC 3CR 95.5 from Sandy Heath as is Heart Bedford on 96.9.

BBC Radio Suffolk is listenable on 104.6 usually in stereo with RDS

Connect FM usually works okay around Cambridge.

BBC Radio Norfolk is usually stereo with RDS, not sure if it's on 104.4 or 94.7, I'm thinking it's 94.7 as it's nearer?

Gold on 1548
BBC 3CR on 630
BBC Essex on 765

London DAB patchy & not really listenable but HBB Mux is fairly good.

I've found that during a lift, Wave 105 is usually one of the first ones to come in.

Those are the main ones I can think of at the moment, if I think of any more I'll post them but bear in mind that they do vary a bit when driving around though I've found that the above is usually consistent in Cambridge.

Which part of Cambridge are you moving to? If you'd prefer not to say or PM me, that's fine.

I've never done any band scans in Arbury but I do know of it.

Yes now you come to mention it, HCR seems to cover quite a large area for a community station, seems to go right into Peterborough the other way too.

I've been able to get Rutland radio with RDS in Cambridgeshire but I don't think I've ever managed to pick it up as far south as Cambridge it's self.

Kiss 106.4 seems to come into the whole of East Anglia quite well too but that's not a surprise. In fact sometimes with RDS AF on in my experiments KISS100 will change over to KISS on 106.4 quite happily.

Update: Thanks fmradiotuner1. Thankfully my regular Friday evening commute from Trumpington to Ramsey is long a thing of the past now so I do not miss the A14 & it's traffic at all.

your right hcr does seem quite a beast for a community station and rutland is easy to pick up around peterborough.

Probably helps being on 104.0. I don't think anything else is on it that nearby? BBC Suffolk on 103.9 is too far away as is BBC Surrey.

If you don't want the boredom of Heart or the blandness of BBC Cambridgeshire - Naturally I would recommend Cambridge 105 Radio on FM and DAB - 17 hours of interesting broadcasting live every day from the centre of Cambridge 6am til midnight - But I would say that...
