Does anyone know if the new V6 box has an IR receiver. I see it has moved to RF but I want to be able to control it with an IR only multi-function remote.

Same here. I've read vague comments saying it is both IR and Bluetooth (not RF). This could be a make or break for me.

Thanks.

Apparently, contrary to whats been said earlier, it doesn't have Bluetooth, but something else that I can't remember. This came from a VM TiVo professional; I can ask if you like.

I have a V6, but I'm not sure about how to go about checking what the remote is cap of.

If you are able to ask, that would be very helpful. The V6 Instruction manual (if there is one) may also show the location of an IR window on the front of the box.

It's RF4CE, I hope this means more to you than it does to me

Not a lot, however our faithful friend Google to the rescue https://www.smkusa.com/usa/technologies/rf4ce/

Worried now, this pic appears to show a rather solid front to the remote - no Smoky, translucent IR window - Meaning my XBox OneGuide wont work

This doesn't appear to help either. New tech is all well & good, but SkyQ kept IR.

I agree with the concerns over the apparent lack of IR we have two Tivo's and use One for all remotes with both. In addition to the Tivo in the lounge we have a surround system and a DVD /HDD recorder and with the other Tivo there's a Blu-Ray player, DVD Recorder and Multi way HDMI switch TV's with both of course so it looks like having to use at least 2 remotes at least for now. I'll be able to confirm one way or the other when we have our V6's installed - watch this space.

This would annoy me too, to be honest as I also use a Logitech Harmony remote.

My harmony remote works fine, the V6 uses RF and IR

Just looked at the specs sheet and this stood out

"Core system

Record six programmes simultaneously whilst watching a seventh recording or stream"

Could this mean goodbye to the Tivos annoying need to change the channel to continue with a scheduled recording? I seems that one Tuner is permanently reserved for 'Live' TV

With th new box, can you watch recorded stuff on the TV Anywhere app without the box being connected to the router? I.e. Does it connect wirelessly to the home network, and so ale it possible to stream stuff to other devices on the same network?

AIUI, it has eight tuners, of which only six are currently in use.

It doesn't reserve any of them for live TV, it uses them as it feels fit.

I think that what that statement means is that if you are using all six for recording, you can watch previously recorded material or watch something on demand.

I'll be satisfied if it does what it's told when it's told. Bloody Tivo played up again last night my other half watched Strictly then we tried to put the X Factor on Tivo totally ignored the remote and the on box controls, once again I had to resort to the main power switch on the back. Roll on the 19th and goodbye Tivo.

So exactly like Tivo then. Not really surprised

Not really. You can record five programmes and watch one, or record six, so three more than TiVo whichever way you look at it.
