Skyrim for me. A fully realised world that hasn't been seen since.
Close call with The Last of Us, which is the pinnacle of storytelling in videogaming - that was a good thing it was, because it helped to cover up some of the gameplay issues. RDR does not deserve to be named alongside the other games, in my opinion. Massively overrated. I'd rate both Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 above it. |

The Last of Us/Remastered
Requires tactics, lots of patience, a lot of scouring for tools and health kits. You don't want to attract attention from noise. Hence the skill with patience and taking enemies out including humans one at a time or distracting them and luring them out or somewhere else to eliminate them. Or your tactics have to change if they're aware of your presence. Everything about this game is stealth, being prepared, tactics and the most important. Being aware of your surroundings and scouting/surveilling the area. As well as having all the parts for your weapons to be crafted before any battle. Most times you wont always have the tools you require. Sometimes when on the go you have no choice to go gung ho with the runners. Let alone the intensity and panic of the dark scenes because you can stumble into some runners unaware as they can be so quiet and end up alerting 3 - 5 runners and a couple of clickers. Or worse, you've panicked so much you went the wrong way and became trapped. Feels like this: https://youtu.be/sWEvLBzMpYE Incredible scenery though in between breaks! Oh and it can be a tad heavy on gore/quite violent and quite a bit of profanity. Though what games aren't these days... |

Never played God of War as it seems a bit too misogynistic for me. I demoed Uncharted 2 but was bored by it.

Misogynistic? How so? There are the controversial sex mini-games but they are all very tongue-in-cheek and none are actually essential for story progression. I think you're letting a very good game pass you by!

Yeah, you really should have played the first 3 before 4. The first is really dated but had a lovely chilling twist in the story.

It's not the sex. Sex is not misogynistic and neither is depicting it. It's the crushing, beating, slicing, dicing and killing of a woman with her tits out whilst getting achievements like 'bros b4 hoes' that I don't like. If you like the game then great but it's not for me.
Nothing in any of the 6 GOW games is out of place/context compared to the actual stories present in Greek mythology and lets not forget that the King and Queen of the Gods are actually brother and sister. |

Skyrim for me. So many hours lost to it. I never get bored no matter how many times I start over.
Haven't finished Witcher 2 so not got 3 yet. GTA peaked for me with San Andreas. RDR is really really good but just falls a little short. TLoU I got about half way through and it didn't do it for me. It's good but not the kind of game I could play over again. (I'll get back to it at some point and finish but I know how it ends and that's put me off) |

Easy: For beginners. Lot of ammunition, crafting supplies, melee weapons, and healing items are spawned in the world. Also, the enemies are quite easy to kill. http://communityvoices.post-gazette....-us-remastered
Normal: For casual players. Supplies spawn at a normal rate. Enemies are moderately strong. Sharp melee weapons spawn late in the game. Hard: For experienced players. Supplies are rare to come by, and non-infected enemies are more aggressive and use cover very often. Powerful melee weapons, such as the Machete and Hatchet, are very rarely seen. Survivor: For players that want a considerable challenge. Supplies are extremely rare to find. Game hints, prompts, and Listening Mode are disabled. All enemies do double damage. Powerful melee weapons appear once. Grounded: For the toughest of the hardcore. Supplies are next to non-existent. Listen Mode is disabled. All enemies do triple damage. The HUD is disabled. Enemy AI is extremely sharp; more so than survivor. Multiple mid-combat and mid-stealth checkpoints have been removed. |

There is nothing misogynistic about God Of War. As for that Trophy, it's for escaping an ambush by two of the Fury sisters who are underworld deities of vengeance, not humans"

Different games though, it's like comparing Mario Kart to Super Mario. The Last of Us and the Witcher are both heavily story driven, GTA V is heavy action with a light story (hand holding) and Skyrim is an heavy RPG

For me it's definitely got to be Skyrim... I got the Platinum trophy on the PS3 for this game and enjoyed every minute of it. I've got the remastered version now on Steam, played about 4 hours so far, need more time to play it lol.
As for the other games in the list: The Last of Us Never played it, I get bored very quickly with story-rich games. I'm sure it's a great game, just not for me. GTA V I've tried on a number of occassions to get into a GTA game, they just don't do anything for me. Read Dead Redemption Played a couple of hours of it a few years ago, then something else game along and I never carried on with it. It was okay, I'm not bothered if I never play it again. Witcher 3 I really need to find time to play this again - I got a few hours in and really enjoyed it. It may even top Skyrim if/when I actually play it all the way through. |

A lot of people always say that "each game is so different" but the reason I chose these games specifically is because I've noticed these games seem to have a universal appeal regardless of the genre you're into. And they're actually not that different - 4 them are open world, 2 of them by the same dev, 3 of them very story driven, 2 of them are Rpgs... they're very comparable.

So? lol people will say anything to defend sexism. I'm not going to argue this with you especially when your excuse is as lame as "but they're not human!" as if that matters. If you think it's ok to cut up a female with her very human looking tits out and then reward the player for choosing "bros before hoes" then cool. Good for you. I don't. And you've only convinced me to steer well clear of the game. Let's leave it at that.

Witcher 3. The characters, the story, the sense of place and time, the extensive lore, the music, absolutely incredible.

1. GTA - Silly overblown childish fun, a huge playground of destruction and mucking about. Also brilliant multiplayer.
2. Skyrim - Huge world to explore, loses out to GTA because stuff like crafting doesn't interest me at all. 3. RDR - The barren world just isn't as much fun as a modern city imo. 4. Witcher 3 - For some reason I found playing this a chore, again to much boring stuff. 5. Last Of Us - Just couldn't get into this at all, I'm a huge Uncharted fan so I have no idea why this didn't connect with me. Tried it twice (ps3 and ps4 version) both times I get about 2-3 hours in and i'm bored. |

God Of War isn't sexist or misogynistic, but you're probably right, you should stay away from God Of War because a lot of the creatures (chthonic or otherwise) in Greek mythology are female and many of them are represented in the GOW series. Kratos kills a lot of them... Gorgons, Harpies, the Fates, Banshees, Sirens, Gaia, the Erinyes as previously mentioned, Persephone, Hera, even Athena gets impaled. He kills dogs too.

I've personally never understood the fascination of Grand Theft Auto games.
I love very challenging near impossible games with their difficulties for tactics, puzzles, riddles, action, firefights, a great story and sometimes but not always a chilling thrill that can lead to a bit of horror. Not keen on heavy gore games but the chill to a build up of action as they come lunging out the dark for you. Ambush style. Love military type games as well as teamplay. Objectives and missions. Grand Theft Auto games always appeared mind numbing from what I've read and watched. Running about stealing cars and bikes, horsing about and I heard some of these games had rape add-ons?
