For those who like his previous documentaries, John Pilger has a new film out tonight that has been a couple of years in the making by all accounts, called the coming war with China, its on Itv tonight at 10.40

This looks unmissable. Not often you can say that about something on ITV!!

ITV have made one or two very good documentaries over the last year with quite challenging content.
They look like they may be trying to get back to how they used to be with documentary television a few decades ago. They're showing a lot of promise at the moment in this genre.

It would be good if it went out a little early, like 9pm, might get more viewers, but at least its been given a slot

We'll, it's called The Coming War on China but it's basically a drawn out documentary about the US treatment of people on the Pacific islands. No wonder they stuck it on so late.

I haven't watched the show, no need, I already know who John Pilger blames for everything. It won't be an objective view of events.

Just watching this documentary and my provisional conclusion is

NAZIS = MAOISTS = AMERICANS = JAHADISTS etc. They are all equally abhorrent human beings. QED

Interesting, thought-provoking, unsettling.

But rather long for one documentary. Was it meant for cinemas like Michael Moore's docs?

I'd have preferred several shorter chunks.

I see it was crowd-funded by 1,119 people NAMED in the credits!

Are you not keen on to get the truth?

Remember that 'biased' is the right-wing term for 'uncomfortable truth'.

I've recorded it because whilst not always agreeing with him, I've always respected him.

Pilger is a very subjective reporter BUT I had no idea how badly the US treated the
Pacific victims of their nuclear tests in the 1950s. The film does show that the so-called
military-industrial complex in the US does have an unhealthy relationship with elected
politicians, It remains to be seen if the President Elect Trump will resist its power.

The first 5 minutes of the documentary film last night didnt grab me, then i got more and more in to it. It was excellent. Going out at 9 oclock would have been a better start time, bearing in mind it was on 2 hours.

The part about the pacific victims of those nuclear tests was sickening. Peaceful and happy island people were used as guinea pigs, suffered the consequences physically and mentally and had their island contaminated with huge levels of dangerous radiation. What the hell is wrong with people ???. Humanity really stinks sometimes. Or should i say small parts of humanity do, as i believe most people are decent people. Most people just want to live theor lives, go to work, to school, life is hard enough without the b.s of war.

Sadly those who are in control or behind the scenes in this world will do everything they can do maintain their grip on power, acquiring more and more money, and resources/land grabbing. War is a business. Make wars unprofittable and you make them improbable. Which on the whole is true

Not quite right there, the film is very objective, from Pilgers point of view.

Pilger seems to have missed his true calling, boring folk to sleep, he is no Mikey Moore , even Stacey Dooley can hold my attention better and thats a challenge when it comes to her.

Way too much prominence is put on this guys long winded rants nowadays, he may have made a decent documentary back in the 19 oatcakes but now he has zilch to say and is saying it too loud.

He likes to channel his obsession with how back the USA is still I see.

Ignore the messenger, listen to the message. Then there's nothing stop you following up on that information and having a good surf/read to establish where the message falls on the truth scale, leaving your dislike of Pilger intact.

Same reply for JVS also.

I thought it was excellent as did many, the independant also chose it as its pick of the day. You didnt like it, fair enough. It held my attention, and im someone who lacks concentration unless something grabs me, The first 5 minutes of it didnt grab me, then it did, i thought it was indepth and illuminating
