Its time we all stopped being lazy drivers replying on sat navs to tell you where to go. Study a map before leaving on your journey or jot down the directions my Dad still does that the old skool way but mostly he knows the motorways and places like the back of his hand due to driving since 1982. Any road closure or a different lay out you just cope with it and use your initiative.

Imagine using a sat nav in the Formula 1 lol memorise the route get used to it and you wont need any help from a computer that talks at you.

It's not being lazy to rely on sat navs any more than it is to be lazy by relying on maps and road signs.

I've noticed myself that when I'm using sat nav I don't really learn the route, i'm just following directions. So I do make a point of driving 'sans-nat' if I have to do it even semi-regularly just so I actually learn where I'm going and am not dependent on the device. However for one off journey's it's just far superior way of navigating - I wouldn't call it laziness so much as progress.

And the art of learning a route seems to be lost these days by just following a sat nav, its good you mentally jot things down so that if your sat nav stops working you at least know what to do.

my mobile phone is lucky if it sees me once a month.
My son-in-law on the other hand could not go one hour without texting or phoning someone even when he is watching his beloved Man/city

Having just spent three weeks in Cuba, where it's nigh on impossible to get any internet and if you do it's so slow that you give up doing anything more than sending a whatsapp message, I found it wonderful to be without a phone that constantly pinged emails, Facebook notifications, eBay reminders, news feeds, etc., etc.,

Since returning I have stopped having my phone constantly on my person and it's quite liberating!!
