I took Mrs TLF to see this at the West Yorkshire Playhouse at the weekend for a birthday treat. We are both big fans of the film and were looking forward to an evening of song, dance, OTT acting and familiarly cheesy dialogue. (Shirley Hastings' "Did I fail him as a mother?" got a round of applause in its own right!)

We got all of this and a bit more. It was absolutely superb. I can't recommend it highly enough if you get the chance to go. I think it helped that we went at the weekend, as a fair few in the audience were well "lubricated" and it made for a lively atmosphere!

The whole cast was superb, but my favourite was Julius D'Silva as Federation President Barry Fyfe.

There are some underwhelming critics' reviews online but ignore them - they are talking b*llocks and clearly wouldn't know a good night out if it hit them in the face.

Pleased you had an enjoyable time. As for the critics : I seem to remember the film had some really poor reviews when it first opened - how wrong were they?

I went to see it in Sydney about three years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it so I'd second that. Nice to see it's finally made it over to the UK.
