Elites and wealth inequality
Great points made here by Stephen Hawking.
https://www.theguardian.com/commenti...net-inequality When will the ruling and stupendously wealthy elites understand that to protect themselves they need to share their wealth, especially with developing countries, to give their populations the hope and chances of having a good life without having to emigrate. The other option is to have low wages and growing poverty in the countries currently receiving economic migrants to make them less attractive. This seems the path we are on at the moment. Eventually though, this will create such instability and resentment, that few will be safe. The selfishness and short sight of the 'elite' beggars belief. |

By any international standard the vast majority of the citizens of the UK are 'elite' and wealthy if you compare them with the world's population generally.
Best of luck trying to convince the rabid right wingers on here to even maintain our spending on international aid, let alone increase it. |
