Thornberry is no match for him. Why she chose to bang on about the Customs Union is anyone's guess.

I'm surprised Tory ardent exiteers weren't outraged that the EU would know the government's position but our democratically elected sovereign parliamentary would be in the dark. As a Tory MP later said the Government isn't leading the way, it is being forced to make concessions by the opposition. Not so much a running commentary, more like running scared. |

Angus Robertson is miles ahead of anyone else in that chamber of horrors.

If you don't understand why she is banging on about the CU then you should have a look at the implications of being outside the CU.
In particular in regards to the supply chain into the UK (Dover, Folketone and Norwich) and the ROI/NI border. In addition, she's obviously banging on about staying the CU as there is a clear majority for this in the Common. So good work Thornberry.. even though I usually can't stand her. The Customs Union stops the possibility of making independent trade deals , so unless there's a way around that, its a non starter, and is incompatible with one of the few things Leave made it clear would happen. |

When the Prime Minister is out of the country someone else takes on their role, usually the Deputy Prime Minister. May doesn't have a Deputy so the Leader of the House of Commons is doing it instead. The Leader of the Opposition never does PMQ's if the PM is away. It's just convention.
