First of all, why is there a store demo mode in the first place?

Secondly, if it has to exist why isn't there a simple option to press to switch it off??

My Samsung TV went into store demo mode which is very annoying because I cannot change the screen, so the screen is very bright.

I went to the Samsung website and followed their instructions and neither worked. One option involved pressing the volume button down while also pressing the menu button. I mean WHY not just a simple 'store demo mode button off'???

So annoying.

Can anyone assist? My TV is about three years old. Thanks.

Folk may need the actual model number.

Would help if you gave us the model number. Though from past experience of Samsung their online manuals can be about as useful as a chocolate fireguard when it comes to telling you anything vaguely helpful

Usually there is a menu option to switch modes. Just a matter of finding it.

On my Samsung TV (ES5500) you have to go through the setup process to switch between store demo and home use modes.

Menu > System > Setup

The instructions I've just seen don't mention holding down both Vol and Menu .

Briefly press (and release) Volume button that is on the TV itself. Then hold the Menu button for 10 to 15 seconds.

I assume that a message will appear on-screen to indicate demo mode is off.

Did that, too. Didn't work. There are several ways to 'do it.'

The manuals available on line for that model don't detail the menu system very well.

Is there a Factory Reset or similarly named option somewhere in the menu. That might be the option of last resort if all else fails. It should reset the TV back to the state it was in when you first took it out of the box so will go through all the setting up processes again.

But it might get it out of demo mode and back into normal home mode.Though a bit of a pain if you've spent any amount of time setting up the picture and sound as you'll have to go through all that again.

I tried to set it back to factory settings but there doesn't seem to be any option.

Also, the pressing down of the volume and then menu, only brings up a standard menu option.

A simple 'store mode' off option would be great. But of course the thickos at Samsung never thought of that.

From the user manual for your model:

If the TV is in the Store Demo mode, it will reset audio and picture settings every 30 minutes. Change the settings from Store Demo mode to Home Use mode in the Plug & Play (Initial setup) procedure.

Press the SOURCE button to select TV mode, and go to MENU → System → Plug & Play (Initial setup) → ENTER

Making it too simple to switch off store demo mode would defeat the point. You'd get people switching it off in stores.

The user guide is clear on this.

As mentioned above;

On the TV set itself briefly press and release Vol then hold the Menu button for 5 seconds.

edit: It seems the trick is follow what 'Roush' has written above, then do the bit I have written within this "initial set-up" mode.

The answer was always going to be a factory reset.

If it went into demo mode of its own accord as you say it presumably has a fault. Is it under warranty? Does disconnecting it from the mains for a few minutes clear it? Worth a try with most things in my experience.

I eventually managed to get my TV out of that store demo mode. But it's rubbish when they say you have to press volume first and all that crap.

I just went straight to menu and after playing with the buttons I did find the 'switch off store mode' button but boy it's as not as simple as these instructions on the Samsung online help page.

Press the ▲ or ▼ button, then press the ENTERE button.Select the desired OSD (On Screen Display) language.Press the ◄ or ► button, then press the ENTERE button.Select the Home Use mode. Store Demo mode is for retailenvironments. To return the unit's settings from Store Demo to Home Use (standard):Press the volume button on the TV. When the OSD volume is displayed, press and holdfor 5 sec.MENUStore Demo is only for shop display.

The set is still faulty if it did this on its own, or is there something you are not telling us.
