I used to park on a residential road when I worked nearby and a couple of the residents found this intensely annoying even though there was plenty more parking. I have no idea why, I just suspect they were very territorial and frankly had nothing better to do with their time. I constantly had notes on my windscreen when I got to my car saying this was a residential street blah blah but one time a note was threatening in nature saying I may find my car damaged if I left it there. At this point I phoned the 101 police line to ask their opinion. They said I had every right to park there and they were in fact breaking the law putting the notes on my car as that was considered to be fly tipping. Just something to consider.

I agree with Ginger Daddy. You need to find offroad parking of your own otherwise all bets are off. Maybe approach the council with a view to a resident's parking scheme if there is enough support but it's a pay option.
Certainly sets the children a bad example too: "It's OK to ignore street signs" |

Or hope the Government continues to allow the closure of hospitals until one day we end up with just one mega hospital in the midlands that serves the whole of England.

Is it a private road? If not, the signs are meaningless.

Could put a note on her car saying 'any chance you can use the overflow car park?' or something.
