You mean they don't wish to stand there in the cold scraping. Lazy/can't be bothered is just your interpretation. Maybe they think you "can't be bothered" to wait a couple of minutes, or you "can't be bothered" to get out of bed a few minutes earlier - that's always a classic.

I find your form of derision lazy.
