You are a very sad individual. Luckily, I suspect the chance of you reproducing is low.

Then I would say if you had a son now you are not really his Dad now are you if you could disown your son for being gay, anyone can father a child being a Dad is another matter one that it appears you would not be able to manage , you love your kids warts and all there are no get out clauses .

No I won't, thanks, I will always speak out against bigotry. This can't be compared with differing views on the EU.

Then you'll be the one who has to live with that and who won't receive forgiveness or peace on your deathbed. Your son's conscience will be clear. But as you say it's your choice.

That's not what freedom of speech means.

You can state your opinion. Other people can then call you out on it.

Your opinion is not protected. If other people choose to point out the flaws in the view, suck it up.

Exactly. Freedom of speech works both ways.

I suspect there's been some "playtime" for some in this thread.

People don`t like a lot of things, people don`t like the cold weather or stepping in dog shit but you don`t come out and say they are insecure or some rubbish. it`s just something people don`t like. Not all of us have to like it or accept it. ”

But stepping in dog shit and cold weather are bad things. They're supposed to piss people off. Two men holding hands is just a sign of attraction. There's nothing there to dislike or get pissed off about? So why would it piss you off? Kinda strange.

We are slowly evolving shall we say.

Now i've got no interest in other men but i've spent time in gay bars with people I know and have had many a good night out and even got a few bruises from helping some poor chap getting attacked by an idiot just for being gay.

If you want defense in a LGTBQ get a friend who's trans as most I met were ex military and quite often in more units like paras etc.

Always remember that some gay muscle mary's and friends type dissed a trans ex-para and it didn't last very long in the gay bar and the ex-para walked away.

Probably its my dads general attitude when he owned a shop that "who cares what they are so long as the moneys legit"

But how stupid does that make you? Or are you so arrogant that you think that people chose their sexuality and that your wrong opinion is fact or in some way debatable, which it isn't.

So you would be proud to disown your own son for something he had no control over? And that makes you a real man does it?

Let's hope that your offspring suffer no disabilities as you would probably disown them also for something they have no say in as well.

But in their case it is just that; an opinion. It's not any kind of fact at all.

So the poster to whom you are referring is one of those kinds of people who think that just whatever they think is fact.

They couldn't be more wrong.

So in stating their opinion, all that has happened is that they have shown their total and utter ignorance of the subject.

I hope you never have a son, or daughter, for that matter. Just my opinion, of course.

With apps like tinder and grinder, I think that gay bars etc are on their way out.

On a side note, that serial killer in London looked really creepy in the pictures.
I wonder how those poor guys didn't pick up on it?

I think that's worse in some ways actually.

If people have these bigoted views, while sad at the very least it's what they believe in.

Saying nasty homophobic things which for some can stir up horrible memories just for kicks is utterly disgusting.

I agree. Anybody who is capable of disowning a son or daughter simply because of their sexuality is not fit to have children. A friend of mine got disowned by his parents for being gay. When I told my mum and dad they were absolutely disgusted and could not comprehend how any parent could just disown a child, the one thing they should cherish more than anything in the world.

I am so glad I am an open minded individual.

I have no idea if I'll have children, but if I do and their sexuality was anything other than straight, I would be absolutely fine with it.

Why wouldn't I be? It'd be me who was somewhat corrupt, not them.

Most people are still weary of gay people. Most will have big jokes in private. What I find is like others have said, it si the very religious that are seriously homophoic, EG the palce where i work, few, group of so-called chruch goesrs, they views would get them the sack within a second if they were to be found out.

What I say is live and let live as long as its within the law of the land

That's very sad and unfortunately you are not alone. I think for your parents to use a car crash as an explanation is deeply worrying, maybe you were better off without them in some ways. Of course it's not my place to say or anything I have experience with but that's some deep-rooted issues right there.

Everyone has their own decisions and values. I believe in traditional family values. To me that`s right, but like i said everyone has their own rights and wrongs.

Like i said before there are millions of people who don`t like it, you can`t just say they are wrong. that`s their opinion, you think their opinion is wrong.

it`s like people hating Trump or Hillary. Both sides seem to hate each other and say the other one is wrong, but in the end they are both different opinions.

me not liking gays and being against gay marriage etc is my opinion. i`m not going around beating anyone up or swearing at anyone, in my way of life i just keep away from them.

It may surprise you to learn that traditional family values put unconditional love for your children at the very top of the list.

BIB - yes I can. Opinions can be wrong. In this case their opinion is based on hatred, bigotry and fear and causes harm to real people, many of whom are vulnerable so yes, on that basis I can say that their opinion is wrong.

And as for your last paragraph, you have said that you would disown your son if he came out. If you could do that to someone you are related to and whom you are supposed to love unconditionally then what the hell would you be prepared to do to people you don't know?

Also why is it people feel they deserve some kind of credit for not beating people up or not swearing at them? Those are things you're not supposed to do anyway! You don't get credit for not doing something that you're not supposed to do!!!!!!

Of course you can say they are wrong, if that's your opinion. You may think homophobia is OK, but I think it's as wrong as any other form of prejudice.
