Those who shun gay people, how would you feel if you or your mum or child's life was saved by a surgeon who is gay? Wouldn't that make you change your opinion and think people are people, and their sexuality is nothing to do with you?

... or would you persist in your miserable bigotry?

Society is still changing, you can't expect everyone to suddenly have the same views in an instant and you can't force people to be comfortable with homosexuality. Change happens as more people grow up with homosexuality as a norm. Who knows how things will stand in another 50 years time?
So we should let homophobia go unchallenged because those poor people can't help it in the hopes that things might improve in 50 years time?

Everyone has their own decisions and values. I believe in traditional family values. To me that`s right, but like i said everyone has their own rights and wrongs.

Like i said before there are millions of people who don`t like it, you can`t just say they are wrong. that`s their opinion, you think their opinion is wrong.

it`s like people hating Trump or Hillary. Both sides seem to hate each other and say the other one is wrong, but in the end they are both different opinions.

me not liking gays and being against gay marriage etc is my opinion. i`m not going around beating anyone up or swearing at anyone, in my way of life i just keep away from them.
How can you possibly say you don't like gays, when gay people, like everyone else on this planet, come in many different shapes and sizes, with many different personality traits? I mean, I can truthfully say that I don't like you because you have clearly shown you are a hate-filled halfwit, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to shun and despise everyone else who happens to be called Derek.

Derek1903, Have you ever been hurt by a gay person?

Were you taught that being gay is an abomination before God, and gay people must be put to death like it says in Leviticus?

Are you persuaded that being grossed out by the thought of gay sex is enough reason for you to hate gay people?

If none of these reasons fit the bill, try to come up with some of your own. You know there's going to be a reason. You just have to keep looking until you find it.

Homophobic people have authoritarian personalities. They are frightened of the world.

Of course not, but it's unrealistic to expect there to be no homophobia yet. We're still moving forward.

A new study has revealed LGBT people are disproportionately more likely to end up in prison.

According to a report published in the American Journal of Public Health, researchers at the University of California Los Angeles also discovered sexual minorities are more likely to end up in solitary confinement, more likely to be mistreated by staff and sexually assaulted.

I got an email notification this morning on a video I'd commented on a while back on a case where a group of gay men were killed. The comment was in reply to mine and said "gays? no real loss".

Happy new year everyone!

"It's my opinion" is too often used as an excuse to be racist, sexist or homophobic.

It's AN opinion - a homophobic one. You should not be able to express it or allowed to say it openly, because it's disgusting.

"Traditional family values" - you do realise that gay people can still have children, right? And that having two dads or two mums would make no difference at all to the child?

"Keep away from them" - do you think you're going to catch it or something? Or that they're going to leap on you because you're a bloke and they just have to have sex with you? Sorry to disappoint you but I can guarantee you that you'd be far below their standards. Most people wouldn't want to be with a fat old homophobic bloke, would they?
