Ice hotel
WhatJoeThinks

The construction of an ice hotel is being shown on Channel 5. I must say it looks rather dangerous. What are the chances of visitors being buried alive at any point? There seem to be no building regulations being exercised whatsoever.

The Ice Hotel in Sweden has been going for many years - since 1990. It's not collapsed yet. it's built each year, I've always wanted to stay there - it's stunning! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Icehot...kkasj%C3%A4rvi)

the Ice bar in Regent street is quite popular, good thing is the smokers go out into the warm instead of the cold for a snout

I asked for a hot water bottle, and woke up in the morning in the basement

It is not new and thousands go every year, the drinks in the bar are very expensive according to friends who went.

They collapse every year. The only question is when this occurs, and what are the chances that someone will be inside one when it happens.

According to this review:

Quote:
“...This is the second time I've been to the icehotel and it looks like the rampant commercialism of the brand is starting to take its toll. Mid April, a lot of the rooms had collapsed, but the hotel did nothing to warn us in advance and failed to provide any refund when we opted to move from an ice suite with grit and meltwater on the floor to a warm room (despite the rate being SEK1000 cheaper). Furthermore, the amount the hotel charge you for activities isn't far off what it actually costs to buy the stuff - ice hole fishing at £25 per person - and they really do charge per person. A head lamp rental for £6 per day? Come on guys, its getting too greedy, particularly at the end of the season when the place is melting, management really should think about whether its fair not to give refunds when the ice bar has collapsed in on itself, the church is closed, there is builders tape, all over the place and the place essentially resembles a building site...”

Nice place to visit, maybe, but I wouldn't want to stay the night having witnessed the construction.

Seems odd that people would go mid-April!

Of course everybody has heard of them, they've been around for years, but this is the first time I've seen 'behind the curtains'. It was shocking, frankly. I'd rather be in China during an earthquake.

By 'odd' I assume you mean 'highly dangerous'. I agree.

I bet my mam watched it. She loves ice hotels and shit on Channel 5. I'll ask her thoughts.

Do they cook food, or just serve straight from the freezer ?

Jeez, the thought of sitting on an icy cold loo . I can put up with most things but being cold is a no-no.

it's just a misunderstanding. Someone came back from Sweden and said "It's a nice hotel..." a bit too fast.
Wot can u expect from people who jump naked into cold water anyway, savages
