If Wuhrsley is such an acknowledged expert on the Tudors, why didn't she write the script instead of mindlessly parroting someone else's words?

I don't know who "Wuhrsley" is but the "writer" in the credits is Chloe Moss, she is a playwright. I presume she wrote the dialogue for for the dramatisations. They would not include Lucy Worsley as writer because she speaks her own words.

Lightweight froth for the mouth-breathing masses presented by arguably the most irritating woman on television.

I won't be watching the next episode.

For anyone with half a brain, please check out Starkey's book, 'Six Wives', for a genuinely informative and erudite overview of the 'King's Great Matter'.
Better breathing out of your mouth than spouting from the backside which appears to be your forte.

David Starkey's opinion on this subject is actually at odds with a number of other eminent authorities who have been openly critical of his conclusions.

Lucy's best yet. She's obviously a fan of Queen Catherine - the original - and her story would make a great spin-off.

I thought I pretty much knew all about the wives but Catherine Howard was a revelation. I had always thought of her as a rather flighty and foolish young girl but she was in fact quite a tragic figure. It seemed she was sexually abused as a child which I am sure her step grandmother must have known about. I knew she was young but did not realise quite how young - so I learnt something new. I enjoyed Lucy Worsley's presentation and she obviously takes great joy in her subject matter whatever era she represents. I think I learn far more from this than some dry tome or monotonous presentation.

Well obviously because she's not as well read as you.
The actress that played the supposedly ugly Anne of Cleves was in fact very pretty.
It was said in the programme that the perception Anne of Cleves was "the ugly one" is down the Henry's propaganda machine to cover the fact he was incapable of consummating the marriage.

As Lucy said, contemporary reports say she was actually very pretty with some accounts saying she was beautiful. It was certainly something I wasn't aware of.

As for the programme itself, I enjoyed it. I really like Lucy, her sense of fun and enthusiasm for her subject and, to be honest, she could dress up for me any time!!

More importantly though she isn't well-versed in every corner of history and so essentially she's little more than a presenter reading stuff out. They try to add an air of authority to the programmes by using her but she is no more expert on this stuff than a lot of people and they might as well have used Fearne Cotton. Would it have killed them to use someone who actually specialised in Tudor history?
So that would be Dr. Lucy Worsley, Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Historical Research, University of London, and visiting professor at Kingston University, you're talking about, then?

You couldn't make it up...

Well to all the bah humbuggers on this thread I thoroughly enjoyed this series.well performed by the cast and lucy is a great presenter.poor young Catherine Howard so different from the vacous portrayal in the film version .I actually thought the actress playing Anne of Cleves was the most attractive.one tiny criticism, last nights episode felt slightly rushed.

Agreed, though I think the abiding memory may be my bafflement as to why Lucy and a portrait of Catherine of Aragon were travelling around the highways and byways of England in a battered old VW campervan. These are deep waters ....

I like Lucy's enthusiasm. She makes old familiar stories fresh and engaging.
I feel the same. I really enjoyed her programme 'A Very British Murder'. Plus, 'Empire of the Tzars'.

Thoroughly enjoyed this series, shame it's only 3 episodes, but then good things only come in small doses, and Lucy is very good indeed. If I'd had her as a teacher I wouldn't have found my history lessons rather boring, I learned more about Henry the 8th and his wives in these three episodes than I did in the entire term we studied the Tudors for in class! Really hope she's back on screen again before too long.

Me too.

I look forward to everything she does. Long may she continue.

All the naysayers should be hung for treason

"Nocturnal pollutions", wasn't it? She was quoting Henry's doctor.

Hung surely? Hanged doesn't look right

'I hung my coat up' not 'I hanged my coat up'

Now I've gone over it so much they all look wrong

Perhaps not a good idea to talk about "hung" with Dr Worsley might bring on some double entendres.
