Alternatives to Christmas pudding
I'm looking for a Christmas dessert as an alternative to Christmas pudding as it's not very popular in our house. Something more along the lines of a cold dessert - I've seen M&S do a couple but I'm not particularly taken.
It will almost definitely be a bought one - I don't think I'll have the time to make one. Any ideas? |

I like xmas pudding but my husband don't so we get something else. This year we've got a chocolate tree cake for Christmas Day and a cherry cheesecake for Boxing Day both to order from Morrisons.

Carte D'Or has some scrummy desserts.
http://www.cartedor.co.uk/product/default.aspx My favourite is the Marscapone. It has a bit more substance to it than regular ice cream. I think something like this would be lovely jazzed up with some meringue and maybe a drizzle of something alcofrolic.. ![]() http://www.walls.co.uk/Products/Prod...920&pid=175355 |

It's REALLY easy making a Tiramisu and it's boozy so it'll still feel Christmassy.

Alternatives to Christmas pudding
I would say look at the range of cheesecakes on offer in the local supermarkets - delicious and not heavy and dense. |

Many thanks for your suggestions. I'll have a good look at them.
I want something a bit more special than ice-cream or cheesecake and I' prepared to spend more than usual on something really nice. |

Sainsburys in the past have done a Taste The Difference ice cream with orange and cranberry running through it (not seen it this year though). I served it with caramelised fresh orange slices as a Christmas dessert . |

I'd rather have a generous serving of good quality vanilla ice cream any day.

That 2nd link looks great - that's the sort of thing I'm thinking of, thanks.
Here's something else to tempt you, a little off the wall, but different, although note the website isn't loading properly on both IE9 and Firefox 42: http://www.royalsweets.co.uk/chilled-desserts-c-35.html.Another online bakery similar to the first two: https://hummingbirdbakery.com/order/. Also there are several regional patissieries/bakeries that will home deliver within their local area. For example here's one in Devon that sounds nice: http://www.devondesserts.co.uk/. Another idea: https://hungryhouse.co.uk/desserts-takeaway. |

I bought a two pot microwave Spotted Dick today which I've put aside for Christmas
To be honest it doesn't look very nice on the picture .........it looks like a brown sponge with some currents in I always thought Spotted Dick should be white and more Suet than Sponge |
